Arsenal player ratings

Another embarrassing performance from a hapless Wenger side saw Arsenal humiliated at the hands of Everton, who in all honesty didn’t need to play well to beat us

Szczesny – 5 – Given the scoreline, Szczesny’s was one of only very few performances worth giving any sort of credit to.  Our keeper was unlucky for all three goals and made some great saves that will be overlooked due to the outcome of the match.

Monreal – 4 – A couple of good crosses at a few points in the match were Nacho’s highlights but all in all he made up one quarter of a terrible defensive performance

Vermaelen – 3 – Fell asleep for the 1st goal certainly and did very little of merit to give credit to

Mertesacker – 4 – Marginally better that his defensive partner but still a mile off what we have come to expect from the big German

Sagna – 6 – The only Arsenal outfield player who looked like he was remotely interested in the match. A professional performance for a man we can’t blame for wanting to leave at the end of the season

Arteta – 2 – Words cannot describe my feelings towards our vice captain.  Why Wenger persists with a player so evidently past his prime is a mystery.  An own goal summed up an appalling day for the Spaniard

Flamini – 4 – Usually one to be relied upon for a solid performance, even Flamini looked average and gave the ball away far to often

Cazorla – 5 – Santi’s job was made near impossible due to the lack of variation in the midfield.  He was played out of position and contributed when he could.

Rosicky – 5 – Lack of variation in the midfield was again partially to blame for Tomas’ performance.  Too many central players meant Rosicky couldn’t make the key runs he usually does.

Podolski – 6 – A couple of shots that were unlucky were the highlight of Lukas’ day.  Perhaps if one of his early chances had gone in we might have had a different story.

Giroud – 4 – Wasted up front on his own.  Every cross was met with him being man marked by three Everton players.  Another sign of Wenger’s tactics gone wrong.

Sanogo - N/A

Ramsey - N/A

Oxlade-Chamberlain - N/A

It would be unfair to rate any of the subs as their teammates had let them down before they had even started warming up.  Why at least two of the didn’t start is a mystery. An Oxlade shot that hit the bar was the best moment of Arsenal’s game, which says it all really.

It now becomes a case of how many embarrassments the fans are willing to take and I am certain, whether for good or bad, that a loss in the F.A. cup or missing out on 4th place will see the end of Arsene’s reign.
