Arsenal player ratings

Many fans were perhaps a little disappointed at the final whistle because we had gone ahead with 20 minutes left, however, a draw against the champions is a good result and one the team can draw confidence from.

In many respects we were lucky not to have our point stolen from us at the end, yet Danny Welbeck was so unlucky not to see his chip bounce into Joe Hart's net.

Ultimately the draw was a fair result, and on the whole the arsenal performance was one of the best we have seen this season.

It's time to push on from here though. 20 games in a row unbeaten at the Emirates, let's start winning more now!

Player ratings

Wojciech Szczęsny – 7 - Saved us at the end and did very little wrong. It would be unfair to blame him for either of the goals but could have possibly reached the equaliser, which was a shocking bit of defending all round. His distribution was as wayward was ever, and Ospina will eagerly be waiting his opportunity to shine.

Mathieu Debuchy- 6 - battled as ever, and looked good going forward. Hope his injury is not too bad. He really is an absolute fighter, works tirelessly up that right flank. His attacking ability means he was sometimes caught out up field, however it never proved to be too costly.

Per Mertesacker- 5 - authoritative but not great by any means. He's been better. He spoke of struggling to motivate himself after the World Cup win and that seems to be quite clear. He has certainly been better, however, knowing sensible Per he will soon be back to his towering, intimidating, game-reading best.

Laurent Koscielny – 7 - When the team was starting to lag after conceding the first goal, he did step up and we saw his superb pace as he broke up a number of city attacks and tried to drive the team forward. He was perhaps fortunate not to score an own goal at the end of the game, but is continuing to assert himself as the best centre back at the club.

Nacho Monreal - 7 - he was caught up field for the first goal, however it was Flamini who should have been covering. Overall it was one of Nacho's better fixtures up against a difficult Man City right wing. He was also a force going forward, often breaking quickly with the ball at feet. We saw some of his pace and he was frequently used as an efficient overlapping option.

Jack Wilshere- 8 - superb. Jack is getting back to his magnificent best. A superbly taken goal with a delightful chip over Hart, and had the bravery to stick his head in (despite his height!) to nod through to Sanchez to set up the Chilean's goal. Was dynamic on the ball and a constant threat. Would be great to see this man to do an 'Aaron Ramsey' and come on superbly in a season.

Aaron Ramsey - 5 - thought he was poor today, offered very little. He was sloppy and laboured on the ball, struggling to find the right pass. He is certainly suffering a dip in form in these opening stages of the season, however I am confident he will come good again very soon.

Mesut Ozil- 6 - Another German struggling since winning the World Cup. Although I thought at times he looked lively when breaking with the ball at his feet, he failed to stamp his name of this game at all. Perhaps this because he was cast out to the left wing birth. The thing is Wilshere played the 10 role brilliantly, it could be that our £42m man may struggle to tie down a first team place.

Alexis Sanchez – 8 - Worked so hard and scored a wonderful goal. That volley really was lovely wasn't it?! There's still more to come from him but his close control was beautiful again today, and I love how hard he works. He is sure to become a fan's favourite. Did not forget his defensive duties either, sprinting back to cover for his teammates. Delivery for free kicks was not great though which is something to work on.

Danny Welbeck- 7 - Another player who worked his nicely striped socks off. Gave this team a delightful new option in that he held up the ball well and also did superbly to get in behind. Was very unlucky not to see dink drop in the net, and to be honest looked better than Giroud ever has in a big game. Think he could be really strong for us in the longer term.

Mathieu Flamini – 5 - Not great, he's just not good enough, caught out as a weak DM on first goal. He did work hard as he always does but his lack of athleticism was highlighted in this game. He is too prone to go to ground in my view and despite the fact he is meant to 'sit', he often strays and is caught out. Think not buying a DM could be arsenals downfall this season (again!!!).

Calum Chambers - 6 - actually seemed to struggle in the right back birth even though it is meant to be more familiar to him. May have been at fault for City's equaliser as well.

Oxlade-Chamberlain- n/a - did not play long enough to judge.

Overall a pretty good team performance. Let's advance from here. #coyg #uta
