As the late kick off drew to a close it was yet another disappointing afternoon. An undeserving result but Arsenal came away with no points.

Arsenal could have been 3-0 up within the first 25 minutes if it wasn’t for a superb David De Gea. Jack Wilshere had the best chance of the game but it was well saved by De Gea but in all fairness Wilshere should have scored.

It was evident in the first 25 minutes that Arsenal were pressing high and sniffing blood but just couldn’t make the break through and this was a combination of poor finishing and brilliant goalkeeping.

The second half was no different in terms of the better team as Arsenal started the 2nd very much the same.

However, the United goal came from the unforeseeable refereeing errors. A cross came in when Gibbs and Szchesny clashed leaving both on the floor for both to try and get up which resulted in the ball deflecting off Gibbs and going in when the shot was originally going wide.

First of all Fellaini was offside in the move but for the referee not to stop play when the players clashed is beyond me. I can 99% say if that was at the other end play would have been stopped. The clash resulted in Szchesny being substituted for Martinez to make his premier league debut.

This then saw Olivier Giroud make his first appearance since the 2nd game of the season. Arsenal then tried to throw the kitchen sink at it what led to it being 2 on 2 for Wayne Rooney to make it 2-0. Arsenal scored in the 8 minutes added on with a sublime goal from the returning Giroud but the game ended 2-1.

The game also saw Wilshere go off injured which hopefully will not be too serious as he seemed to be driving this Arsenal team forward. However, the game ended in defeat and Arsenal must pick themselves up before the crucial game in midweek against Dortmund. This defeat hurts especially when you consider Arsenal battered this United team at stages.

We must move on and comeback from this.
