An outstanding first half display made sure Arsenal picked up their first win of the season. Arsenal played some of the best football in ages.  Arsenal went one up after Cazorla converted a penalty after a foul was given on Sanchez. Sanchez then made it two before Ӧzil made it three. Arsenal looked a different side second half which was down to the Watford changes who pulled one back. However, Arsenal saw the match after some nervous moments to pick up the three points.

Cech – 7 – Made a crucial double save in the second half to make sure Arsenal saw the match out.

Bellerin – 7 – Looked good going forward and dealt with the Watford attack well.

Holding – 7 – Another impressive display by the young man. His passing was superb and started moves from the back.

Koscielny -7 – A solid display once again mopping up the Watford attack.

Monreal – 7 – Dealt with the Watford winger well who kept running at him all afternoon.

Xhaka – 8 – An impressive display from the new man who was excellent in his passing and looked solid defensively. As one journalist mentioned it looked like the midfielder Arsenal have been missing for years.

Cazorla -7 – Scored from the spot and made an excellent tackle in the first half.

Walcott -8 – An impressive display from Walcott who really worked hard today and looked a threat going forward.

Ӧzil -8 – A performance which showed everyone why he was so important. Got a goal in the first half after a wonderful run into the box and looked like the creative spark.

Oxlade-Chamberlain -6 – Inconsistent in his performance again and needs to keep things simple and was deservedly subbed.

Sanchez -8 – A great performance in the striker role which was down to the return of Ӧzil. Looked a threat running in behind and the goal will give him some much needed confidence. Also, got an assist for the third goal.

Subs

Elneny – 6 – Came on to tighten up the midfield when Watford were really attacking. Played okay but there was nothing to really note.

Wilshere – 6 – Didn’t really get involved but did pick up a yellow.

Gibbs – 6 – Replaced the injured Monreal and saw out the game in the defence.

Overall, an important three points on the back of the latest transfer news. We must kick on now and get back to those levels of fitness. Xhaka looked excellent in the midfield and defiantly showed he is the midfielder we have needed in terms of his physical presence but also defensive ability.  Let’s just now see what the transfer window brings.
