After two stalemates, Arsenal had a tough test against Brendan Rodgers' new look Liverpool side at Anfield, however it was the Gunners who came out on top with a confident 2-0 win.

Player Ratings:

Vito Mannone - 7 - Despite not having an awful lot to do, was solid when called upon and handled Liverpool's attacks well.

Carl Jenkinson - 6 - had a poor first half with numerous mistakes, struggling to handle Sterling but improved second half and was better.

Per Mertesacker - 7 - Good performance from the German despite a few clumsy errors. Made a fantastic tackle on Sterling to prevent a certain goal.

Thomas Vermaelen - 8 - A quality show from the skipper who made a string of vital challenges, especially late in the second half.

Kieran Gibbs - 7 - Was solid in defence and is improving every week. Kept Borini and Downing at bay.

Abou Diaby - 9- My man of the match. Was absolutely class on the ball and chased down every player when without it. Great to see him back from injury.

Mikel Arteta - 7 - Had a fairly quiet, but confident performance and controlled the midfield throughout the majority of the game.

Santi Cazorla - 8 - Cazorla once again showed what a class act he really is. He dominated the game and opened his account with a good goal that Reina should have done better with.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - 5 - Had a very quiet game and did not really make much of an impact. Was subbed off in the second half.

Olivier Giroud - 5 - Giroud had a poor game, he missed a good chance in the first half similar to the one against Sunderland. I am sure that once he gets a goal then the floodgates will open.

Lukas Podolski - 8 - Podolski had a great performance, scoring a fantastic goal to match in the first half. His work effort is fantastic.

Subs:

Aaron Ramsey - 6 - Came on for the ineffective Oxlade-Chamberlain and was composed on the ball when needed.

Andre Santos - N/A - Santos was not on long enough to make a significant impact.

Laurent Koscielny - N/A - Koscielny was not on long enough to make a significant impact.

A 0-2 win for Arsenal was a fantastic result and they will be delighted that they ended their goal drought.

I agree Giroud's movement is very good, however when you get into those positions you simply have to hit the target and he has failed to do so. I thought he was much better against Stoke last week

He has just joined the club. He has played 2 and a half games. How long did it take Bergkamp to score his 1st? I think 8/10 and his 1st goal was against Southampton as was Pires. Next game is Southampton at home. Bring it on!

Giroud will come good. His movement was superb his hassling of Liverpool was superb also. The OX helped Jenkinson out immensely also. The "TEAMWORK" of the whole team was something we have been missing for years. If we continue to defend as a team as we have done for the 1st three games the sky is the limit!

Giroud's rateing today is wrong he should have got a better score. If you watched the game properly every time he went near the ball Liverpool allways put between 2 and 4 players on him, were are the other players not stepping in to help him. Give the guy a chance.

A fair assessment of the game ratings methinks, Santi Cazorla though merits a 9, he was the engine of this team. Diaby was good but Santi Cazorla just pips him for MOM for me.

Giroud should buckle up. We're not happy with his misses. They're too expensive !

Give the guy a chance, he has got big shoes to fill. the last thing he needs is the fans getting on his back, he will come good just needs time.

I think Jerkinson deserved higher rating, at least 7. His performances has been great. He didn't let anyone beating him on one to one situasion. On the other hand, Gibbs positioning in this match has been bad, going forward too deeply leaving a huge space down the left flank

A CF is only as good as his service. Giroud has missed some chances, but quality passes to put him into scoring position have been few. Our crosses were atrocious today, and this little stat says it all:

Podolski & Cazorla have exchanged 53 passes so far this season. Cazorla & Giroud: 17. Podolski & Giroud: 4.

I quite agree with the ratings. I think jenkinson was superb in the 2nd half. Podolski, arteta, carzola and the vermenator were simply fantastic. Abou Diaby on the other hand is undoubtedly our best player on the day. Kudos to the entire team for the collective team work. UP THE GUNNERZ!!! Follow me on twitter @compore, i will follow back.

Ah leave the guy alone. As it says in the article he's clearly pushing at the floodgates. A goal will open them. Remember how long it took Henry to start scoring.
