A well deserved, important 3 points which we needed. Now it is important that we put a good run together if we are to climb up the table.
Wojciech Szczesny – 7 – good to have our number 1 back. Was unlucky with their 1st after making a decent save but looked decent. Didn’t really have much to do though.
Bacary Sagna – 7 – solid performance from Bac. Kept Bale reasonably quiet and linked up well with Theo down the right.
Per Mertesacker – 8 – don’t really know what he was doing leaving Defoe for their 1st but certainly made up for it with a bullet header to equalise. Good performance.
Laurent Koscielny – 8 – back to his usual self. Made plenty of important last ditch tackles that we’re use to seeing from him. When he plays alongside Mertesacker they combine well.
Thomas Vermaelen – 7 – improved performance from captain. Struggled a bit in the first half against Lennon but made some good interceptions later on.
Mikel Arteta – 7.5 – showed that last week’s performance was noting more than a blip. Other than being caught in possession twice, his passing was crisp and his link up play with Santi and Jack was good.
Jack Wilshere – 8 – so good to have him back. Technical ability aside, he is a real leader on the pitch. Impressive today and I believe there is more to come.
Santi Cazorla MOTM – 9 – the full week’s rest certainly looks to have benefited him. Phenomenal on the ball and his passing was superb. Got on the score sheet and picked up an assist as well.
Theo Walcott – 9 – Also got an assist and a goal today. He’s been really impressive this season and improves every game, reinforcing Arsenal fans’ desire for him to put pen to paper and sign da ting!
Olivier Giroud – 8 – Grabbed another goal today, silencing his critics. Something I really like about him is the defensive side of his game. He always gets back to head clear the danger. I’d put money on him scoring against his former club on Tuesday.
Lukas Podolski – 7 – Scored the 2nd today and put in a great ball for Cazorla’s goal. Also looks to have improved on the defensive side of his game, a certain challenge on Bale in the box springs to mind. Efficient performance.
SUBS
Aaron Ramsey – 5 – I’m a fan of Aaron but he didn’t impress me today. A bit sloppy and indecisive at times, probably due to the lack of game time.
Andre Santos – 6 – played a lovely ball through to Vermaelen but other than that, he wasn’t really involved.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 7 – great performance coming off the bench. His blistering pace provided us with another outlet at a crucial point in the game where Spuds were starting to get back into it. I’d like to see him get more game time.
