The speculation surrounding Arsenal’s interest in Stevan Jovetic has been around since last January. Every transfer window has brought reports that Arsenal are in talks to sign the Fiorentina forward, with nothing coming of it.

But right now the talk seems to have hotted up, with reports from various reliable sources suggesting that Arsenal are negotiating with the Italian club for the Montenegrin international.

Time to get serious

With the possibility of signing Jovetic becoming just that, an actual possibility, I thought it might be time to take a serious look at him, and what he’d bring to Arsenal.

Reports suggest that Arsenal are set to take Nigerian centre-back Godfrey Oboabona on trial, with a view to a potential summer move. The defender impressed at the African Cup of Nations, and will have a period of time to impress the Gunners staff. The player claims to have interest from all over Europe, and will decide his future in the summer.

Outrage

I’ll admit, it’s not as bad as it has been, but the usual disgruntlement has emerged from portions of the Arsenal fanbase. Some comments I’ve found include:

With no Arsenal on for a while, the only semi Arsenal related news is what the players have been getting up to while they are away. Nowhere near as interesting… but it’s something.

Players getting injured

The worst news to come in so far is that Theo Walcott got injured. The England international was taken home with a pelvic injury and is expected to miss “up to 10 days” which will probably mean he misses the Reading game on the 30th, but should be back for the West Brom game.

The latest round of international games is upon us, with the first of two sets of World Cup qualifiers being played yesterday night. Numerous Arsenal players were involved, to varying degrees of success.

Goalscorers

A surprising number of Arsenal players scored last night. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain got England’s second in their walkover victory against San Marino. The winger had a sprightly game, always looking up for it despite the quality of the opposition. He also recorded an assist for Jermaine Defoe.

Interlull is in full effect. I hope everybody is wearing their hazard suits, like requested. So far, nobody’s legs have fallen off during a light jog, and the only issues with playing time Arsenal players are experiencing is if they’ll have any. So, it’s onto the babble.

One in to Barca, one out?

According to El Mundo Deportivo (Spanish link, I’m afraid), Arsenal are interested in Barcelona’s Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez. The winger/striker has failed to really make a name for himself at Barcelona and Juventus, Manchester City and Arsenal are all supposedly interested, with Arsenal leading the way.
