Following from yesterday’s news that Arsenal had a £14m bid for Luiz Gustavo accepted we have an update for you based on today’s round of articles.

The Express goes with Arsenal having submitted a £18 million pound bid. They also run with Ian Holloway calling Arsenal fools for snubbing Chamakh his chances and Arsene’s make or break season basically re-hashing much of Alan Smiths comments.

The Daily Mail confirms much of what the Metro report alluded to, but includes Arsene’s response to a deal being done with the quote 'There is nothing concrete yet.'

ESPN also are following the same story as the Daily Mail and the Metro but instead quoted Arsene’s response on if he is interested with "It's as you say."

Most of the other Papers, journalists on Twitter, including Telegraph’s Jeremy Wilson are re-iterating what has been said already.

I would argue the £14m is closer to the mark since Bayern will be actively looking to sell due to an over-subscription in midfield. The £18m as quoted by the Express as to high based on the situation also Gustavo didn’t play yesterday in the first Bundesliga match of the season, coupled with Wenger’s admission of interest I think we can assume that at very least a bid has been submitted if not accepted, let’s hope we bag our man.

@Jorgie says they are in for Gustavo, not that he has been signed
+4 #13 Billy 2013-08-11 22:19
Alright Arsene let's wrap this one up quickly. No loose ends.

DEFINITELY MAYBE?

Thats not saying that he's a left back. He's a defensive midfielder capable of playing at left back is what I meant, ala Ramsey as emergency third choice.

To be honest this looks like a really possible deal on paper. Arsenal need cover at left back in case one of monreal or Gibbs gets an injury. The first option is to have vermaelen as cover but now that he's out, gustavo could slot in comfortably in the worse case scenario. However, it all remains to be seen. Fingers crossed

At least something positive happening. Good player even though I would have preferred Lars

Gustavo is foot-perfect ,ideal for arsenal's style of football. Suarez is even more perfect.

Gustavo is a very good DM and he will add good balance to the team.

@polo there is multiple sources in the text not just the metro i didn't include others because much of it was the same
+4 #5 polo 2013-08-11 20:01

Could it be anything like this 14000001
+10 #2 au revoir arsène 2013-08-11 19:52
a good bit of business if true. lets not forget gustavo is quoted as saying he admires arsenal's style of play.

This would be an immaculate signing.... He can use the ball well and is good at closing down players much like Flamini in his last season with us....
