Just when you thought the end was in sight, the tale twists again. After Suarez’ apparent comments to Uruguayan journalist Martin Charquero last night where he declared his desire to stay at Liverpool, it has been revealed that such comments were false.

Latest Comments

After a sensational performance where he scored and assisted in Uruguay’s 4-2 win over Japan, he had this to say to Japans Kyodo News.

"I didn't say that, maybe someone else did and the main thing is that I am here now with the national team.”

Both Charquero and Kyodo News are noted as reliable sources so it depends on whom you believe. The insanity of this saga is beyond belief and having written nearly 2 hours ago that the end is in sight, we’re back to where we started.

Kyodo News

If Kyodo News are to be believed, then Suarez was adamant that statements about staying at Anfield were nothing but false journalism. He had the opportunity to confirm that he would not be leaving the club, but instead chose to rubbish the reports.

Suarez cut a much more happy and driven figure whilst playing for Uruguay earlier today away from the constant rumours about his future. There is little point speculating about further news about the striker’s future until the player himself makes a statement or Liverpool agree to concede to his desire to leave.

Arsenal’s position

Until then, Arsenal fans have to hope that Wenger has one last trick up his sleeve to force Liverpool’s hand into selling. John Henry made similar comments about Torres like he did about Suarez last week.

But I have a sneaky feeling that if Arsenal put £50 million on the table, Liverpool will be powerless.

Liverpool

Honestly Liverpool fans, what is the use of keeping Suarez when he has absolutely no desire to stay at the club?

We know about his childish attitude so chances are he will either refuse to play or when he does put in minimal effort.

I’m not for one minute criticising the club because their stance with the Uruguayan has been nothing short of admirable and I wish Arsenal put up a similar fight with van Persie last summer.

But as September 1st draws ever closer and the Arsenal fans grow ever more disgruntled with our lack of spending, do not be surprised to see Gazidis (more importantly than Wenger) do all he can to land this marquee signing we are desperate to see.

Liverpool, keeping hold of Suarez is like staying with a girlfriend who has just cheated on you. You cant trust them and they’ll do it again.

Its fact that Suarez want to leave Liverpool for what-ever reasons he consider good enough for him to want leave. Liverpool must respect the guy and let him go even if it means to a small team like Arsenal, the mi$take is for him to make. Whatelse does Liverpool want for it to understand? Aas history people they should now understand that Suarez's love of Liverpool is now history.
#35 Billy 2013-08-15 02:06
As a die hard gooner, I have no idea why anybody who supports arsenal want Suarez. 50 mil just for one temperamental striker? No way! Especially when the team needs improvement in so many other areas. Lets be honest IF Wenger was to snatch Suarez? We wouldn't get anybody else in the transfer market. You all know Wenger as well as I do and we all know he wouldn't spend another penny. The team would be left incomplete and we would be fighting for fourth again. Wenger, sign Muriel, sign Gustavo, and sign a decent centre back. Please Wenger we could grab all three for less than what we would spend and Suarez and we could see ourselves in contention for the top three spots. Lets go Wenger!

He's clearly wanting to go to Madrid and is prepared to wait until next season. Why would he want to sign for the perennial bridesmaids ???

Liverpool finished at least as close to Arsenal as Arsenal did to United for each of the last 3 seasons so how come you think Arsenal sold Van Persie to a rival? To continue the girlfriend analogy from a Liverpool fan's point of view it's like your bird saying she's leaving you for a rockstar then finding out she wants to move in with the accountant over the road.

I wouldn't be deluded enough to think United are our rivals anymore. I don't live in the past like you lot.

Suarez said he won't be leaviing LFC. True or false He surely is not going to leave for another English club, and that is a fact, so what's it to AFC if he said it or not, mr. wenger should look elsewhere for his "marquee" signing,
It seems he lost another chance with Bayern's Gustavo who is joining wolsburg

Stop tapping up our players and focus on renewing Walcots contract

What do you guys not understand about "NOT FOR SALE"? At least not to a direct rival for CL places. Just because you guys let players contracts run down to the last year so they can force a transfer through doesn't mean Liverpool are that stupid too

"What is the point in keeping Suarez"?? For the same reason arsenal want to sign him he's a world class player, do you honestly belive he would stay and be loyal if Madrid come callin? The answer is no! Stop writing about a player who belongs to another club who will quite clearly not be playing for your club next year, it's getting really desperate and pathetic

Totally agree mate. What Arsenal have done over Suarez is tantamount to 'tapping up'.

So many scousers on arsenal websites it laughable

This site comes up on the Liverpool blogs and news threads because of the Suarez link, so you're going to get LFC fans commenting. What's laughable is Wenger's continued failures in the transfer market. He always puts bids in for players that he knows will get knocked back and then says he is trying to buy players in the hope of appeasing the gullible Arsenal fans. Plan B?? I think Darren bent is available and Heskey is still knocking about....
+2 #15 Gooner4Life 2013-08-14 19:05
look what happened when we sold RVP to United, they won the league... As much as i would like him to play for us, I can't LFC making the same mistake

Because it makes me feel so much happier about our prospects this coming season seeing a potential rival for 5th (tottenham will easily displace you in fourth as things stand) making so many mistakes in the transfer market!
That and every article I read about Liverpool at the moment is coming from these desperate Arsenal blogs talking about something that will never happen.
" keeping hold of Suarez is like staying with a girlfriend who has just cheated on you" is better than always looking at other people's girlfriends wondering why they are so much fitter than yours....

I am liverpool supporter and tell you that he is not going to any Englsih club and that is final.
personally I think we would be better off without him a he is trouble but selling it to a rival club is madness.
+2 #11 AndyYNWA 2013-08-14 18:58
Keep Suarez unless Madrid offer 50 million +. Once the season starts and he's served his time in the stands things will settle down and he will have his Liverpool game face on once again.
He will not be sold to desperate desperate Arsenal.
+8 #10 David 2013-08-14 18:58
Its the world cup next year and so wherever he is Suarez will play out of his skin, it is his only way of playing which is why he is so good. Liverpool know this and know that coming 5th to arsenal's fourth next year after selling him could cost massively both in terms of money and new players next year. I am liverpool through and through and really don't care about the respect issue, provided he plays well. I respect AW as do most but he has backed the wrong horse this time and has left you looking short again.

There is no point selling him to a direct rival, no matter how much money, and so the owner and manager have said he wont be sold to another English team. He has 3 years left on his contract, so the power is with Liverpool. However, if Madrid want him, then they can have him for 40 million minus a pound :)
