Just when you thought the end was in sight, the tale twists again. After Suarez’ apparent comments to Uruguayan journalist Martin Charquero last night where he declared his desire to stay at Liverpool, it has been revealed that such comments were false.

After a sensational performance where he scored and assisted in Uruguay’s 4-2 win over Japan, he had this to say to Japans Kyodo News.

"I didn't say that, maybe someone else did and the main thing is that I am here now with the national team.”

Both Charquero and Kyodo News are noted as reliable sources so it depends on whom you believe. The insanity of this saga is beyond belief and having written nearly 2 hours ago that the end is in sight, we’re back to where we started.

Kyodo News

If Kyodo News are to be believed, then Suarez was adamant that statements about staying at Anfield were nothing but false journalism. He had the opportunity to confirm that he would not be leaving the club, but instead chose to rubbish the reports.

Suarez cut a much more happy and driven figure whilst playing for Uruguay earlier today away from the constant rumours about his future. There is little point speculating about further news about the striker’s future until the player himself makes a statement or Liverpool agree to concede to his desire to leave.

Arsenal’s position

Until then, Arsenal fans have to hope that Wenger has one last trick up his sleeve to force Liverpool’s hand into selling. John Henry made similar comments about Torres like he did about Suarez last week.

But I have a sneaky feeling that if Arsenal put £50 million on the table, Liverpool will be powerless.

Liverpool

Honestly Liverpool fans, what is the use of keeping Suarez when he has absolutely no desire to stay at the club?

We know about his childish attitude so chances are he will either refuse to play or when he does put in minimal effort.

I’m not for one minute criticising the club because their stance with the Uruguayan has been nothing short of admirable and I wish Arsenal put up a similar fight with van Persie last summer.

But as September 1st draws ever closer and the Arsenal fans grow ever more disgruntled with our lack of spending, do not be surprised to see Gazidis (more importantly than Wenger) do all he can to land this marquee signing we are desperate to see.

Liverpool, keeping hold of Suarez is like staying with a girlfriend who has just cheated on you. You cant trust them and they’ll do it again.
