Real Madrid have apparently rekindled their interest in Liverpool’s Luis Suárez, after backing off due to their £40 million bid being rejected earlier this summer.
According to AS journalist, Javier Matallanas, sources close to Suárez contacted AS to tell them that Madrid have in fact reopened talks.
With the £86 Real Madrid are due to pay for Bale, they are looking to offset the Suárez transfer fee with funds raised from the sales of either Coentrão, Benzema, Di María and/or Özil.
Brendan Rodgers also previously stated that he was expected a late bid from Madrid for Suárez, though, continuing on to say that Suárez is not for sale as it is too late now to properly replace him.
Good news for Arsenal?
Seeing as Liverpool refuse to sell Suárez to us, the next best thing is for him to end up in Madrid.
When Real Madrid really want a player, they get him. Examples (this transfer window) being Bale and Illarramendi. £86 million for Bale- ludicrous. €38 million for Illarramendi- good player, but also ridiculous.
However, Real Madrid need to be able to fund the move first; that’s where we come in. We are reportedly in for both Benzema and Di Maria, which would undoubtedly fund the Suárez deal.
Though Benzema’s agent dismissed a possible move to Arsenal.
If…
If we end up with even one of Benzema or Di Maria it would be a great deal.
Benzema would increase the competition with Giroud and even Podolski immensely, bringing the best out of all of them and Di Maria would be a more than adequate replacement for Ox’s injury and for Gervinho.
If we end up with both, it’d be quite a day and hopefully year for us Gooners.
