Nope, I can’t believe it either. Arsenal are supposedly in advanced talks with Real Madrid’s Argentinian winger Angel di Maria over a potential move to the Emirates.

Di Maria watched today as the media raved and 25,000 fans packed the Bernabeu to watch the unveiling of left-sided midfielder Gareth Bale as a Madrid player, and surely the Argentina international isn’t happy at his replacement.

With Madrid keen to recoup the world record funds they splashed on Bale, di Maria could follow teammate Mesut Ozil to London after his German colleague looks set to make the same move from Spain to Arsene Wenger’s developing side.

After his intense scrutiny over the past weeks, Wenger has surely done enough to silence the critics for years to come.

Even after calls for him to spend in the past weeks, nobody expected the Gunners to pull off the signing of Ozil as PSG, Monaco and Manchester United circulated the German superstar. With the footballing world still in shock over the Ozil deal, Wenger looks set to make the Arsenal faithful faint as di Maria could join before 11pm tonight.

The ambition shown by Wenger over the last few hours has made up for the lack-of over the past months.

Sky Sources claimed that Wenger is confident of landing the pair before the window slams shut tonight, giving them the title as the best spenders on the final day of the summer period. The deals will eclipse the €36million deal that David Moyes is sealing for Atletico Bilbao’s Ander Herrera and possibly even overshadow Gareth Bale’s unveiling at the Bernabeu.

Coupled with the supposed loan of Demba Ba and constant rumours over possible goalkeepers, these are exciting times to be an Arsenal fan.
