MAJOR UPDATE HERE: --> LATEST NEWS on Draxler to Arsenal
Yesterday we brought you the news that Julian Draxler was undergoing medical tests to confirm when he will be fit to play again and fortunately it was good news as he’ll be able to resume playing in seven days time.
Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt conducted the Mesut Özil medical before he signed in the summer and now that he has essentially given Draxler the all clear, we seem to be even closer to seeing Draxler in an Arsenal shirt.
No problem with medical
Initial fears believed the German youngster may be out until March with his ruptured tendon but now that he has been presumed nearly fit, it will likely see Arsene Wenger push this deal through before the January transfer window slams shut.
The Daily Telegraph also state that we have agreed a fee with Schalke over the 21-year-old, according to their sources in Germany.
Fee agreed
The fee in question is £36 million, this despite reports recently suggesting Arsenal didn’t want to pay over £30 million, however it would be in installments.
That is the sticking point at the moment; arranging the scheduled payments and how much would be paid up front to Schalke.
One positive is that personal terms will certainly not be a problem. Arsenal will increase Draxler’s wages from £50,000 a week to £80,000.
Super Fab part of the deal
Another option for the Gunners is to offer Schalke Łukasz Fabiański as part of the deal as the Polish keeper’s contract runs out in the summer and the German side had been targeting his signature when his deal expires in July.
With just over one day left it seems like this transfer will go down to the wire but we can at least rest assured that the medical won’t be a problem.
Now we just wait to see what happens with this transfer. Draxler’s versatility could see him cover the forward position, in addition to central midfield.
And it is a signing Wenger and Arsenal need, for the second consecutive transfer window can we secure the signing of another talented German.
