Wenger was busy today answering questions from journalists about various transfer rumour in seen in the press and surprise, surprise, most rumours were rubbished.

Wenger was first asked about St.Etienne captain Loic Perrin who almost looked certain for the Emirates at the beginning of the week, however now the answer is:
“No, we are not on the case [of Perrin]”

When asked about Villareal’s Gabriel Paulista, he answered:
“We are not on the case [of Paulista], we keep all that as quiet as possible.”

Rumours were circulation that Arsenal may be in the market for Chelsea shotstopper Petr Cech. This comes off the back of talks of a bust up with Szczesny following the disaster at St.Mary’s however Wenger again rejected the claim:

“No, Petr Cech is at Chelsea. We have three goalkeepers who for me are top class and there is a big competition going on. I have no doubt we have the needed quality.”

It also seems likely the Gunners will not be signing another short attacking midfielder as he rubbished the claims of Arsenal’s interest in playmaker, Isco:

“No, we are not on the case [of Isco]. We have plenty of creative players. We are more short on the defensive side of our game, not on the offensive side. We have plenty of offensive players.”

He did however express his interest in Legia’s wonder kid Bielik, stating there is interest but it could be a while until a deal is agreed with the Warsaw club:

“He is a young boy that we follow, yes. You see I gave you some information! We are not very close at the moment [to an agreement].”

We have reported before Arsenal are about to come in with another bid for the player, so perhaps this is the one that gets the deal over the line for ‘the next Vieria’ as he has been called.
