Long-term Arsenal target Gonzalo Higuain has told Aurelio De Laurentiis that he no longer wants to feature for Napoli amidst rumours suggesting that the Gunners are preparing a multi-million bid to finally lure him to Emirates Stadium.

Despite him topping the goal-scoring charts at the Naples outfit, his club failed in their attempt to land a Champions League ticket and the former Real Madrid striker seemingly is frustrated about not being a part of the most elite European competition.

The Stadio San Paolo outfit had cunningly embedded a release clause worth £67million hoping that European madmen would still pay them what they demand to acquire his services. Nevertheless, no top club but Arsenal have registered their interest in signing the Argentine.

Even though their president had stated that he would allow the striker to leave only in the event of his demands being met, he may be forced to accept the suggested £43million bid from the London club.

Gonzalo Higuain does have the elite-level experience, having featured alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and the likes and could be deemed an upgrade to Olivier Giroud, but it is dubious if he can match the expectations of the Arsenal supporters given the price tag that he bears.

In order to have a solemn crack at the Premier League title, Arsene Wenger certainly needs to bolster his lineup even further, but there are a lot more unsettled strikers available in the transfer market, who are available for half the price that Napoli are seeking for the Copa America flop.
