As reported by the Sunday People (via the Daily Star), Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is ready to offload defender Carl Jenkinson on a permanent basis this January.
Big things were expected from Carl Jenkinson after he earned a move to Arsenal from Charlton Athletic as a teenager and the youngster certainly seemed to have all the required skills in his repertoire to succeed at the Emirates Stadium.
Unfortunately though, Jenkinson never really managed to make the right-back position at Arsenal his own despite being handed a plethora of opportunities and following a loan spell at West Ham United, the 24-year-old currently finds himself filling the role of a fringe player in North London.
Jenkinson has been limited to only 5 appearances in all competitions so far and the defender is clearly down the pecking order behind the likes of Hector Bellerin, Gabriel Paulista and even young Rob Holding.
As a result, it was widely believed that Jenkinson would be making a move away from Arsenal during the January transfer window and a host of Premier League as well as Championship clubs are interested in signing the one time capped England international on a loan basis till the end of the season.
Jenkinson set for permanent Arsenal exit
In surprise revelations by the Sunday People, it has been claimed that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger wants to get rid of the ex-Charlton Athletic youngster on a permanent basis rather than send him out on another loan spell.
The likes of Aston Villa, Swansea City, West Ham United and Crystal Palace are all believed to be interested in signing Jenkinson and Wenger is allegedly open to selling the lanky right-back at the right price as he has been deemed surplus to requirements.
If indeed Jenkinson is sold, it would be a great shame as the defender is a true fan of Arsenal and he really wanted to succeed at the Emirates Stadium. However, Hector Bellerin is the undoubted first choice right back and Jenkinson will surely be better served trying to resurrect his career elsewhere.
Another youngster likely to leave Arsenal
As we reported earlier, Gedion Zelalem is another player whose career at Arsenal is coming to an end during the current January transfer window. Zelalem has failed to impress since making his debut as a fresh faced 16-year-old a couple of years ago and the midfielder is now said to have been left extremely frustrated with the lack of opportunities coming his way.
The 19-year-old entered the final six months of his contract at the Emirates Stadium recently and it has been suggested that he could well be set for an exit from North London, with German giants Borussia Dortmund keen on securing his services.
20-year-old Non-League attacker to arrive?
While there has been a lot of talk about the potential departures from the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal are in the market to bring in a couple of new players as well and the Daily Star have reported that the Gunners are now poised to make a £50,000 swoop for Hednesford Town winger Cohen Bramall.
Bramall has done well in the Evo-Stik Northern League Premier Division this season and recently, the 20-year-old was invited by Arsenal for a two-day trail. The young man seemingly managed to impress the Gunners' coaching staff during his time at the club and it looks like he will become the Premier League giants' first acquisition in the January transfer window.
