Arsenal want Everton midfielder

Arsenal spent around £35 million to acquire the services of Granit Xhaka over the summer but it has to be said that the Swiss international has not been able to justify such a huge price tag since his arrival to the Emirates Stadium.

While Xhaka is a talented player, his rash tackling has been a real cause for concern and it is believed that Arsenal will look to sign another defensive midfielder as an alternative to the ex-Borussia Monchengladbach star for next season.

In surprise reports from the Sun, revelations have now been made that Arsenal are currently considering a move for Everton man Idrissa Gueye.

Gueye has impressed for Everton this season after joining from Championship side Aston Villa and the report states that Arsenal have identified the 27-year-old as the ideal player to add power to the Gunners’ midfield, which has struggled this season.

Manchester United considering shock Ozil move

The current furore surrounding Alexis Sanchez has taken some attention off of the underperforming Mesut Ozil but the fact remains that the German international’s future at the Emirates Stadium is in doubt as he has not yet signed a contract extension.

A number of clubs would surely jump at the chance of signing Ozil if he were to become available next season and Football London have made a huge claim that rivals Manchester United are interested in signing the 28-year-old next summer.

United boss Jose Mourinho enjoyed a successful relationship with Ozil at Spanish giants Real Madrid and is allegedly looking for a reunion with the superstar playmaker.

While Arsenal do have a habit of selling their best players to rivals, it is very unlikely that the North London giants will do business with United or indeed Mourinho due to the intense animosity between the two.

Sampaoli backs Alexis to revive Arsenal’s campaign

Alexis Sanchez has received a lot of criticism recently for his poor attitude and there are widespread reports that the Chilean superstar is simply not committed to Arsenal as he eyes a move away next summer.

Sevilla has been one of the mooted destinations for Sanchez but the manager of the Spanish side, Jorge Sampaoli, has insisted that his former player will eventually come good and turn Arsenal’s dwindling fortunes around.

Sampaoli said, "I was lucky to enjoy sharing a time with him in the national team, we went to the World Cup and won a Copa America together. It was a very satisfying moment of my career and great to share it with Alexis.

"He is one of the best strikers in the world and irrespective of the team not going through the best patch of form at the moment, he is a player who can change that. Hopefully they will be able to depend on him so he will be able to turn things around as a player within that team."
