Just days after we believed that the Gonzalo Higuain transfer to Arsenal was on the verge of being completed, a new twist has arose.

Ancelotti’s appointment as manager was likely to speed up the deal, but it is believed, according to reports in the Times, that Higuain could now be used as bait to sign Gareth Bale from Tottenham Hotspur.

Higuain to Spurs?

As well as the Times, Spanish newspaper AS believe Real will offer Spurs 60 million euros plus Higuain and Fabio Coentrao to secure the services of Bale.

The news that the Spanish giants are preparing a bid for Bale will please for most Arsenal fans but the use of Higuain as bait will be a concern.

Deal was close

Only yesterday the Argentine’s brother insisted a deal was close to being completed and despite these new rumours, I still believe Higuain will be signing for Arsenal in the foreseeable future.

The Higuain transfer has been muted for some time and it seems unlikely that it won’t materialise but this news will be a concern to the Gunners faithful.

Big name signing

He has been seen as the top quality striker Arsenal need so that they can challenge for titles again and his signing is vital for Wenger to show the world that his team can be a force once more

His signing may now take a little bit longer than first predicted but the Argentine forward is still expected to complete his move to the Emirates soon.

Although predictably Gunners fans won’t be sure of his transfer until he is pictured with Arsene Wenger holding the Arsenal shirt, hopefully the wait isn’t too long.
