As everyone will undoubtedly know, Arsenal’s main transfer target this summer appears to be Real Madrid’s Argentine forward, Gonzalo Higuain, and as is the typical Arsenal way this deal seems to be taking an eternity to come to fruition. However, for once this may not be Arsenal’s fault.
Reports in Spain have suggested that Arsenal informed Real Madrid of their interest two weeks ago, and are as of yet still waiting for a reply from the Spanish giants.
It had been thought that Madrid would wait till appointing a new manager before agreeing to sell off their players, but following the appointment of Carlo Ancelotti earlier this week, little has progressed.
A new twist in the tale emerged this morning on Italian TV channel Tuttomercatoweb, when they reported that Ancelotti now wanted to keep the striker, following earlier reports that he wanted to offload him.
So this deal could yet have some time to go before anything happens.
Gonalons not leaving Lyon
Lyon chairman, Jean-Michel Alous has rebuffed reports that Arsenal target Maxime Gonalons is set to leave the French outfit.
The Lyon captain, who is a rumoured Arsenal target due to his capabilities as a defensive midfielder, is said to want to stay at the club, despite other clubs including Napoli also being after the 15 million Euro rated player.
However, Alous did suggest that if the right offer came in for another Arsenal target, Yoann Gourcouff, then they would listen.
