Arsenal ran out winners in the FA cup third round but it wasn’t as comfortable as the score line would suggest. Arsenal gifted the opening goal to Sunderland with Koscielny trying to do a step over on the edge of his own box.
However, Campbell levelled shortly afterwards after good play. The second half was more dominant by Arsenal which saw the substitutes change the match. Ramsey scored the second before Giroud rounded it off with the third.
Cech – 7 – Cech played in goal after Ospina picked up an injury before the game. Could not do anything about the goal and pulled off an impressive save in the dying minutes of the game.
Bellerin – 8 – Impressive by Bellerin again who grabbed assists in the second and third goals. Back to his best when going forward Bellerin was decisive with his final ball.
Gabriel – 7 – Solid like he usual is and dealt with the threat of Fletcher well.
Koscielny - 6 – At fault for the goal trying to play out however, was his usual self for the rest of the match.
Gibbs – 7 – Looked dangerous going forward and defended well on most occasions.
Chambers – 7 – Kept the ball moving in that defensive midfield role.
Oxlade- Chamberlain – 7 - Played a deeper role today and had a mixed afternoon. At times gave the ball away cheaply but also played some delightful football. Also, hit the post but needs a goal as a confidence booster.
Campbell – 9 – Absolutely superb by Campbell who scored the first goal and was a constant threat all afternoon. Looked dangerous all match and was the main creator.
Iwobi – 7 – Iwobi’s second start of the season and was impressive throughout the game. Had a couple of efforts at goal and was involved in a lot of the build-up play.
Walcott – 7 – Got an assist for the first goal and looked threating all afternoon with the directness in his running.
Giroud – 7 - Worked hard all afternoon but looked ineffective until he scored.
Subs
Ramsey – 7 – Changed the game when coming on and grabbed that important second goal to put Arsenal in front.
Arteta - 6 – Came on with Ramsey and kept the ball ticking over in midfield.
Reine – Adelaide – 6 – Jeff made his Arsenal debut and got 10 minutes. Looked very promising and glided across the pitch. All Arsenal fans will want to see more.
