Boss Arsene Wenger has been given the all clear to activate Luis Suarez’s £40million release clause.

Having already had a bid of £30million plus £5million in variables rejected, the only option for the Gunners boss to land the Reds’ star would be to table the offer that Suarez’s representatives feel the player can leave for.

It has sparked debate between Liverpool FC and the Suarez camp – unless there wasn’t enough of a dispute there already – in which Liverpool want a release clause of at least £50million, a price which would surely put off any English clubs interested.

Frontrunners

But with Suarez’s people setting the bar at £40million, undoubtedly a price that even Liverpool would be forced to listen to, anything around that margin could prove to be successful. Real Madrid’s bid for the Liverpool number 7 will more than likely be fruitless due to the fact that their first bid for Suarez reached just £25million.

With Madrid failing to realistically valuate the striker, and Arsenal now prepared to pay the £40million that the club will more than likely listen to, there is no doubting who the frontrunner in the saga is.

Rodgers comments

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has remained firm that their prize asset will not be sold, although even he conceded that a £40million move could not be ignored. Yet he has appealed to Suarez’s inner nature, pulling at the heartstrings:

“It's not about me or the club, I think it's the supporters and his team-mates for what they gave him,” Rodgers told the Liverpool Echo.

He added: “They have stood by him through thick and thin, and through all the traumas he has gone through over the last couple of seasons.”

However Suarez could still be desperate for a change of scenery after his turbulent year in Liverpool, and with Arsenal eager and willing to pay up, the Emirates could be his preferred destination.

I find it difficult to believe even the most likely stories regarding transfers that are surfacing every other hour across Arsenal websites. The amount of waffle being peddled as "from a reliable source" or an "insider with close ties to..." is so bad that even an imbecile could see through it. Suarez,Rooney,Willia ms,Higuain, the list goes on, would'nt be surprised to see my own name added to the list soon. Its all speculation, nothing else. I am fed up reading about players we are about to sign suddenly being whisked off to some other footballing galaxy. What about a little enlightened debate for a change. For example why dosen't someone explain how it is that Man City can spend nearly a hundred million so far without breaching FFP regulations? How is it that Napoli can all of a sudden have "108 million euros to spend on players" when they owe nearly as much to UEFA for match fixing and to the Italian state in tax and fines. How come Barca are spending money that they don't have either ? Remember that when they signed Cesc two years ago the then had to go to the banks and borrow 150 million euros just to pay staff wages! In the meantime Arsenal have been fending off ( at least the Arsenal Supporters Trust have)attemped take overs by Oil barons from the middle east who stole their countries wealth, from Russian gangsters and American chancers. And whats in it for Arsenal? A clap on the back from FIFA for being such good sports and paying your way through difficult times. What a load of bollox we've been hoodwinked again by cheats who won't pay their way. While I'm at it would you agree with the following statement, There are two possible league winners in the following countries: Germany: Dortmund and Munich, Italy: Juve and Inter, Spain: Real and Barca, Holland: Ajax and PSV . England: Chelsea and Man city. France and Scotland PSG and Celtic respectfully.Yeah great bloody new season to look forward to. Over to you Monsieur Platini.

What a load of old fanny, he will never come to us, anyway who wants that cannibal bringing all his unwanted baggage to the club. WE have enough crapola to deal with as it is.

If the player want-away the is club must be realistic and listen. An unwilling horse is a dangerous to ride also given the fact that it is none other than Suarez. They only have to talk to him and make him happy by addressing his concerns. Just wait until he put in a written transfer request then u will see the power of aa fish in the water. They(Lfc) must t must take the money in time and buy other willing players. Fact Suarez wwantaway.

Are you SURE there is a "release clause"? Why do you believe it will be as low as £40M? Why do you think a team whose only realistic ambition is 4th place would sell their best player to one of the other 2-3 teams going for 4th??? Surely this would not make sound economic sense, making yourself weaker and your direct competion stronger.....?

Why would "Suarez's people" "set the bar"?? It's up to the club, surely, and fora player with 3 years left on a contract I don't think they would even talk until Arsenal bid up to £55M. And even then they could just say, "No ta, maybe next year..."
