Wantaway Liverpool man Luis Suarez wants his future to be resolved within the next 48 hours, after Arsenal saw their £40,000,001 bid snubbed by the Reds.
The £40million+1 turned out to be a clause in the player’s contract, which said that the player had to be notified if there was an offer over £40million offered, yet Liverpool are still not inclined to sell their star man.
Liverpool are “surprised” to hear that Suarez wants a move to another English club, after he told Brendan Rodgers that he “still likes Liverpool” but “wants to play in the Champions League”.
With Arsenal the only club showing interest in the controversial character, and fulfilling the Champions League criteria, they remain in pole position to land the player.
Suarez looks to be last-chance-saloon for the Gunners as long-term target Gonzalo Higuian signed for Napoli. Higuain had been painfully close to an Arsenal move in recent weeks, even stalling on the Napoli offer to wait for an English counter-offer.
Domino Effect
The Suarez deal could have secondary advantages for Arsenal too. Liverpool are poised to use £26million of the £50milion funds to swoop for Valencia’s Roberto Soldado, a man who is possibly Spurs’ last chance of signing a striker.
