Paulo Dybala had a sizzling performance against Cagliari today, scoring two in a 5-0 rout for Gianfranco Zola’s side, Palermo.
In an interview with Sky Italia after the match, Dybala was asked about links to from the Premier League, to clubs such as Arsenal and Manchester City. In response, the striker did very little to talk down a move to England, responding:
"This is not for me to say, they would talk about it to my agent, and now, I think to make goals."
As reported earlier, Arsenal had been linked with the forward who is hitting good form at the start of 2015. The young Argentine was quick to accept the praise he has received from the North London club:
"Whenever people speak well of me, I'm filled with pride. I will not deny that going to Arsenal and playing in the Premier League would be amazing. However, I am aware that my reality right now is Palermo."
Dybala was subject to an apparent €40 million bid from the Gunners in December but proof of this is hard to come by.
Arsenal have had a recent exodus up front, with Podolski leaving for Roberto Mancini’s Inter Milan and the loan moves for Yaya Sanogo and Joel Campbell seeming more likely.
With news of Manchester City being in “advanced” talks with Swansea over Wilfried Bony, according to Sky Sports, a move for the young Palermo striker may be on the cards for Wenger in this window.
If the Gunners are in fact lining up a move for Dybala, I believe it could be a good piece of business. The striker is clearly in form scoring two against Cagliari, never mind a good goal rate for his club. He has been praised by many during his stay in Italy and perhaps now is the time for him to step up into the Premier League.
The thoughts of Walcott, Alexis and Dybala leading the Arsenal attack would strike fear in the heart of any defence. Also the fact he is coming from Serie A, it means he will be well used to a physical game.
