There’s rather a lot to talk about today. The most pressing thing is the fact that Arsenal seem to have done something rather unusual. They’ve made a signing that will impress nearly everyone, fans or non-fans.

He’s coming to town

At this very moment, “Santi Clause” Cazorla is at London Colney, completing a medical exam and that photo thing that they always have a little video of on the website when they sign someone.

I’ll admit, this signing has me salivating ever-so-slightly. He’s like a smaller Cesc with a harder shot, who can play on the wing. Mmmmm...He was supposed to have been doing his medical three hours ago, but it’s very possible the medical staff have to take him to pieces and then re-assemble him, just to check his durability.

Either that or Arsenal are sitting on the announcement, which seems much more likely. Or Chelsea have swooped in with a Lamborghini and a harem of Russian supermodels, bundled him into the boot and forced him to sign a multi-million a second contract.

Yeah, I’m sticking with the second one.

Sahin Watch

Reports coming out of Spain regarding our loan target Nuri Sahin vary. There’s one that suggests we’re competing with Galatasaray for his signature, which is possible, though Real want him to spend a season playing regularly at a top level, which, to be fair to Galatasaray, the Turkish league isn’t really.

According to the pretty reliable Jamie Sanderson, he’s now been convinced that a move to Arsenal is a decent idea, and Uncle Jose is happy for him to go wherever he likes. There are mutterings that United are looking in with a view to a permanent deal, but Real don’t want to sell him, and United are a bit skint anyway, so there probably isn’t much truth in that at all.

People don’t realise what a great addition Sahin would be. He’s actually a defensive midfielder, which people again forget, though more in the Xabi Alonso mould. He can win the ball and then create with it. Perfect cover for Jack.

Other stuff

Talk rumbles on about Alex Song being a Barca target, and Grand High Diver Sergio Biscuits has opened his gob about what a great player he is, to the club’s official website no less.

If Barca really are interested, Arsenal don’t really need to sell, and I doubt they want to either, after what Barcelona did with Cesc. The fact they’re getting their players to tap him up does suggest there is something there, but I doubt Arsenal will let the same thing happen twice. Song’s contract has either two or three years left, so it’s not as if he’s a contract rebel in the Van Persie or Walcott mould. Ignore this.

The way Barcelona get players to sign does annoy me. Alright, get your players to try and encourage a target, if they play for the same national team or something, but don’t publish shameless tapping-up on your bloody website.

Apart from that, there isn’t much else Arsenal-wise, apart from Stewart Robson saying we should sell RVP for 12 million. He’s a real idiot though, which I imagine is why he was sacked from Arsenal TV, along with the constant Wenger bashing.

Anyway, tara.
