Arsenal will line up without Theo Walcott and Santi Cazorla this weekend: however our midfield is still one of the best the Gunners have seen in recent times.

Sitting pretty at the summit of the Barclays Premier League – unbeaten since day 1 of the season- Arsenal have hardly broken sweat in the games since. A trip to Wales awaits Arsene Wenger’s boys after the kids’ midweek penalties triumph over West Bromwich Albion.

The league’s second highest scorers have taken 12 points from 15 as opposed to Swansea’s mediocre 7 leaving them coasting in mid-table.

The midweek Capital One Cup games threw up an interesting perspective of the two sides. On one hand, Arsenal played a severely weakened side for the game at the Hawthorns, the match finishing 1-1 AET only for the Gunners to emerge victorious on penalties against an impressive West Brom.

This week’s love-in at the Emirates continued this morning with manager Arsène Wenger declaring: “I love this club.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Swansea, Arsène acknowledged yesterday’s words of support from majority shareholder Stan Kroenke, who has confirmed that he wanted Wenger to stay at the Emirates beyond the expiry of his contract at the end of this season.

Wenger said:

"I'm very honoured to have the support of Stan Kroenke. That is something that is very positive for me. I've had consistent support from inside the club. I'm very grateful to this club because during my 17 years we have had ups and downs. They have always shown faith in me.

Arsenal’s majority shareholder Stan Kroenke has been speaking about his plans for the club – which include securing Arsène Wenger’s services as manager long after his current contract expires at the end of this season.

Kroenke told the Daily Telegraph:

“There’s no one I feel more strongly about and I think he is doing a great job. We have been very supportive, we have never wavered, we are proud of him, proud of the club, the way the club is run and how it holds itself out to the world. Arsène knows how we feel, what our philosophy is, what we want to do and I feel like we are totally aligned. I think he wants to do it the exact same way as we do.”

Arsène Wenger has acclaimed his squad for maintaining their great start to the season despite injuries and fatigue requiring that the team make some adaptions.

Aaron Ramsey, Per Mertesacker and Bacary Sagna all scored as the team recorded a fourth successive league win last weekend, with a 3-1 success against Stoke City – despite the opposition having 65 per cent of possession in the second half.

“The possession Stoke had was completely against our reputation and our way of play,” the manager told Arsenal Player.

Arsene Wenger has claimed that the stomach surgery underwent by England winger Theo Walcott has been successful and the flying winger will be back in the Gunners’ red next month.

Walcott travelled to Germany for the surgery on his abdomen this week after he was withdrawn from the matchday eleven just minutes before kick off on Sunday.

He initially appeared on Wenger’s teamsheet, playing wide on the right wing before the 24-year-old complained of stomach pain and was not risked by the boss. Serge Gnabry took his place out wide and put in an excellent performance in his first game of the season as Stoke were defeated 3-1.
