Morgan Schneiderlin has re-emerged as a top transfer priority for Arsenal, as moves for Sami Khedira and William Carvalho have increased in uncertainty.

Preliminary Negotiations

The Southampton midfielder would be a viable option for the Gunners, who according to The Metro have opened preliminary negotiations with their Premier League counterparts.

Whilst the £18 million touted by his club may be seen as excessive, Southampton are keen to keep hold of one of their last remaining key stars, after seeing a mass exodus during this summer’s transfer window.

Arsenal announced their second signing of the summer, with the arrival of French right-back Mathieu Debuchy.

The player, who will replace the departed Bacary Sagna, is delighted with his £12 million move to The Emirates, telling Arsenal.com that he is very proud to sign for Arsenal and to wear the colours.’

Not giving in

The move has triggered demand for current fullback Carl Jenkinson, who struggled to break into the first team during Sagna’s stint at the club.

Today brought the confirmation of the well anticipated transfer of Mathieu Debuchy.  Debuchy is Arsenal’s second signing of the summer following Alexis Sanchez.

Debuchy had the following to say to Arsenal.com

“I’m very proud to be joining a great club like Arsenal and to wear its colours; it’s one of the biggest clubs in the whole world. I’m looking forward to working with Arsène Wenger and to helping the team build on last season’s FA Cup success. Playing again in the Champions League is a big excitement for me and I will do my best to help Arsenal compete for trophies.”

The latest reports coming out of Spain regarding the future of Sami Khedira suggest the Real Madrid midfielder has made a massive u-turn and wants to stay with his current club.

It has been widely reported that Arsenal are in talks with the German after they agreed a fee with Madrid, said to be €25 million.

The sticking point between Arsenal and Khedira was the wage demands being made by the defensive midfielder, however the Gunners were allegedly confident they could resolve the issue.

Khedira not talking to Arsenal?

But, it was confirmed today by the agent of the German midfielder that his client isn’t in fact holding talks with any Premier League club – not Arsenal or Chelsea, who were also linked.

A week after he was expected to be announced as an Arsenal player, the transfer of Mathieu Debuchy is set to be confirmed today.

The Newcastle full-back has been linked with a move to the Emirates for the past few weeks and even suggested during the World Cup that he would be joining the Gunners.

The club announced the signing of Alexis Sanchez last week and it was predicted that Debuchy’s announcement would be before or at the same time as the Chileans.
