Reports surfaced last night that the Gunners have completed their first signing of the summer in the form of Swiss forward Josip Drmic.

Timely Transfer

Former Germany striker turned Sky Deutschland pundit Lothar Matthäus claimed on air that Arséne Wenger has moved three months in advance to secure the signature of Nürnberg’s forward.

While earlier rumours that the player’s wife had been looking for apartments in London were quashed by Drmic himself, he hinted that he would be open to a deal imminently.

After what can only be described as an abysmal week for Arsenal Football Club, the Gunners face title favourites Manchester City at the Emirates this Saturday.

After failing to grab three points against Swansea and being embarrassed at Stamford Bridge, the Gunners would certainly have hoped for an easier fixture.

After a season that promised so much, it looks as though Arsenal must focus once again on securing Champions League football.

With Everton only six points behind with a game in hand, the match against the Toffee’s a week Sunday is looking like a huge game.  Arsenals go into tomorrow’s game knowing that a win will make a huge difference in the race for Champions League football.

Arsène Wenger has hinted that crocked midfielder Abou Diaby still has a chance to turn out for the Gunners in an injury-hit career.

Problematic Progress

The 27 year-old was ruled out for most of the season after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in last season’s March clash against Swansea.

After a series of injuries in previous seasons hampered his progress, his setback has led to speculation over his long-term future at the club.

Special Surprise

However, Wenger revealed in his pre-match conference for Manchester City that while he doesn’t expect the Frenchman to feature again this season, there is still a chance that he can revive his Arsenal story.

Arsène Wenger and the Arsenal board are ready to pounce after French winger Antoine Griezmann revealed that his future is still in the balance for the upcoming summer.

Open Door

With 19 goals this season, the in-form Real Sociedad player took to Twitter to deny the rumours from French newspaper L’Equipe that a verbal agreement to join PSG was in place for the summer.

“To clarify, despite rumours about a signature at PSG – no contacts or decisions in this direction have been considered.”

In my last piece, I emphasized the importance of getting the three points against Swansea. If we had won, the race to finish in the top three would have been both achievable and acceptable, thus providing our players with some well needed confidence for the FA cup semi-final. The players surely knew how vital this game was, and surely now know that they bottled it in a childish manner.

Disgraceful and heart-breaking is what our performance was. I would class it as being worse than the Chelsea performance, purely because of the ridiculous lack of passion and commitment shown.

I really do wonder what goes through our players’ minds at times. Rosicky, one of our oldest players on the pitch (33), was the only player taking the bloody initiative to run at the Swansea defence. It's beyond abnormal; it's aspects of a football match that just don't make sense.
