Surely we've gone too far over the past 8 years to see our team crumble in the manner it did against Chelsea. Wenger's 1000th marked off in a disgraceful manner.

Probably worse than losing to Bradford. No. Nothing is worse than losing to Bradford. Anyways, potentially Wenger's last or before last season as Arsenal manager, could we really end such a legacy on such a low?

Over the past two years, we've showed remarkable spirit to finish in the top four, even when it's seemed impossible. We've overcome massive setbacks. But does Arsene and his players have it in them to pick themselves up, after such a humiliating result come Swansea?

Dear Mr. Szczesny, Mr. Sagna, Mr. Mertesacker, Mr. Koscielny, Mr. Gibbs, Mr. Arteta, Mr. Oxlade-Chamberlain, Mr. Rosicky, Mr. Cazorla, Mr. Podolski, Mr. Giroud, Mr. Vermaelen, Mr. Jenkinson, Mr. Flamini.

When Arsenal lined up against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, optimism was high and the fans expected big things from a side that were ready to prove themselves as serious title challengers. While results against Liverpool and Manchester City had humbled the club, the supporters still believed that a miracle could happen. That, despite all signs pointing against it, Arsenal could finally beat Josè Mourinho in West London, putting them in a fantastic place for the final title run-in.

Arsenal come in to manager Arsene Wenger’s 1000th game in charge on the back of a 1-0 win over North London rivals Tottenham at White Hart Lane last Sunday.

The match on Saturday will be chance for the Gunners to really prove their title credentials, as they face top of the table Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

However, Wenger is yet to beat Jose Mourinho, while Mourinho is unbeaten at home in the league with Chelsea. Could Wenger’s 1000th game change this?

Team news

Arsenal’s match winning midfielder Tomas Rosicky is a doubt for the game at Stamford Bridge, and will have a late test on his ankle to see if he makes the match.

Reports are emerging that Bayern Munich’s Mario Mandzukic’s agent is in London to discuss a potential move to Arsenal.

That was backed up by Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio. Di Marzio went on to say that “Mandzukic’s agent is heading to London for talks with Chelsea and Arsenal about his client.”

Metro have been covering this story as well and had the following to say:

The day before Arsene Wenger’s 1000th game in charge of Arsenal has seen fresh rumours that the Arsenal boss is set to sign a new 2 year deal. It seems the deal has been in place since around October 2013.

Pay Rise

With all the talk about budgets this week, it appears that Arsene Wenger has Arsenal’s finances into consideration in signing his new deal.

A £1 million pound pay rise has reportedly been rejected by the Frenchman but his new deal will be enhanced with performance related top ups regarding the team’s success.

Loyalty

During the trophy barren years of Arsene Wenger’s tenure it has been easy for some to take ‘le professeur’ for granted and forget the many opportunities he has turned down in order to keep managing in North London.
