The Telegragh are claiming that Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny will be the next Arsenal star to be offered a contract extension.

This becomes great news as Arsenal are beginning to tie down key players in order to gain success.

The player who joined in 2010 has become a great success and a standout figure in the defence, with brilliant performances of late.

With the contract renewals of Aaron Ramsey and Santi Cazorla yesterday, Arsenal fans can’t help but just be happy.

Ramsey was always a promising player before his injury and now it seems that he’s captured what everyone was looking forward to.

With 13 goals this season (not to mention he’s been injured since Boxing Day) Ramsey has been one of the Gunners best players in the 13/14 season and its brilliant news to see him commit long term to the Arsenal as many of the top clubs in the world are most probably interested in him.

Even Ramsey himself has been impressed with himself this season:

After the great news of Santi Cazorla, Aaron Ramsey and young talent Gedion Zelalem all signing new contracts with the club, the future is beginning to look bright for the Gunners.

With the recent signing of the British talent that happened recently and now contract extensions of these three players,  Arsenal look like a steady team roaring for success.

The Future...

Joel Campbell

With the future looking all bright for the Arsenal, one has to think of the future. On-loan striker Joel Campbell has been praised by Arsene Wenger, however the manager does not know if he will feature for the club next season. Campbell has been playing wonderful football at Olympiakos, however with the contract extensions of players, the future of Joel Campbell will remain a mystery until next season.

The Arsenal travel to Tottenham then Chelsea in a bid to recover valuable points from their London rivals en route to reclaiming a competitive edge in the Premiership race and recover pride of place as a contender.

For nearing a decade the pride of London have surrendered kingship for a castle while the natives ponder who raided our ark. Our ark once laden with shields, cups and trophies in the first era of 500 games was left barren in the second; the majestic oak of our cabinet reduced to no more than fire wood. Dead wood.

Times could be about to change.

Arsenal will be looking to extend their six point advantage (with a game in hand) over their north London rivals to all but secure a Champions League spot.

While aspirations may be higher this season, this should be seen as a bare minimum. After Spurs’ recent losses to Norwich, Benfica and trouncing by Chelsea, now could be the perfect time to play the scum from down the road.

I know what they say, “form doesn’t matter when it comes to derbies” blah blah blah, but realistically Arsenal should be looking to secure three points for the first time at this ground since 2007.

At the back

Despite sensational performances against Bayern Munich and Everton, Lukasz Fabianski is set to be dropped back to the bench, in favour of the club’s number one choice Wojciech Szczesny.
