Table-toppers Arsenal welcome 3rd placed Liverpool to the Emirates in what is a battle of the Premier League’s two most in-form sides.

Liverpool have lost just once this season, a 1-0 defeat against Southampton, but are unbeaten since as they defeated Sunderland, Crystal Palace and West Brom with a 2-2 draw with Newcastle in-between.

The Gunners are unbeaten in 8 having won 7 of their games, with the opening day defeat to Aston Villa the only black mark on their record.

Arsenal also boast the League’s best goal difference having scored 20 goals and conceded just 9 in 9 games, with Liverpool scoring 17 and conceded just 8.

Liverpool are the year’s highest goalscorers, with Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge forming the formidable “SAS” partnership which sees them sit 1st and 3rd in the race for the golden boot, Sturridge taking top spot with 8 and Suarez behind with 6 since his return from ban.

In his press conference today, Arsene Wenger hinted that Theo Walcott and Mathieu Flamini, while not ready for this weekend’s tie against Liverpool, could be back for next week’s arguably tougher game against Manchester United.

While Flamini has only been a recent injury, Theo Walcott has missed a good number of games this season, and has missed out on Arsenal retaining their place at the top of the Barclays Premier League.

Have we missed Theo?

Arsenal have continued to flourish without Theo Walcott, with the exemption of the blips against Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea.

Mesut Ozil, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Yaya Sanogo and Serge Gnabry have all been shortlisted for awards in this year’s football award season.

While Ozil is up for the prestigious Ballon d’Or, the young trio have all been shortlisted for the 2013 Golden Boy award.

Ozil has been included on the 23-man shortlist for the Ballon d’Or, which is a prestigious FIFA award, awarded to the best player in the world. Although the winner will almost certainly be Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo, just to be shortlisted for the award is an amazing honour for the German.

Emmanuel Petit has claimed that Arsenal have the potential to dominate English football once again after their roaring start to the season.

The 43-year-old Frenchman made 116 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal between 1997 and 2000, after snubbing interest from Tottenham to join from Monaco at a price of just £2.5million.

The World Cup winner has voiced his opinion that Arsene Wenger will stay at the Emirates despite his contract finishing at the end of the season, and has even targeted winning the Capital One Cup as an early goal.

The Gunners play Chelsea in the League Cup in midweek, another of Petit’s former clubs, but he has tipped the Red side of London to triumph:
