Some good news for us Gooners, as City are still searching for their first win at the Emirates in the league for 38 years, 27 league matches.

Their last victory came on 4th October 1975 when City condemned us to a 3-2 defeat at Highbury in the old Division One.

City also haven’t hit the back of the net for 5 league games at Arsenal, their last goal scored by DaMarcus Beasley in 2007.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have unbeaten in our last 5 league games, winning 4 and drawing one whilst scoring 17 goals in our last 5 home games. We now have scored 40 goals so far, more than last season at this stage. We have also won our last 5 league games that we have had the lead at half time.

Another day, another press conference, another round of Arsene Wenger transfer bingo. While quizzed on transfers ahead of the Manchester City game, the manager replied with this:

"In England you are always under pressure to buy. We are still working in the transfer market but we only want exceptional players.

“So far we have not found him. We have no problem in players wanting to join us. I’ll give you my phone for 24 hours! We can afford 90 per cent of them.”

We've heard this 'exceptional players only' line many times before. Either Wenger really is dedicated to only buying the finest players, or he's using it as an excuse for something. After the debacle at the end of the last transfer window, you'd have to think he's deflecting attention from somewhere else.

Many newspapers reported on Wednesday that we have offered Theo Walcott a bumper five-year deal worth £25 million, ending the ongoing saga between Walcott and Arsenal F.C.

However, BBC journalist David Ornstein recently dismissed those reports, saying that Arsenal have yet to improve the first contract we offered Walcott way back in August.

Despite suggestions to the contrary, there have been no formal talks between Arsenal and Walcott’s representatives since August, where he rejected a fresh five year contract worth £75,000-a-week.’

If so, Arsenal has remained grounded on a £75,000-a-week deal and if we have held out this long, doubts could be rose that we are willing to budge on our offer.

The latest team news ahead of this week’s clash with Manchester City has been revealed.

Arsene Wenger has come out with a statement saying Giroud’s fitness is 50/50. He has also indicated that a late fitness test on Saturday will determine whether he will feature against City or not.

A cut on his knee during last week’s game against Swansea means the chances of him getting a run out on Sunday doesn’t look in our favour.

Perhaps a disappointment for Arsenal fans, as it would have been a great opportunity for Giroud to make a name for himself, as well as a chance to prove to Arsenal fans that Wenger made the right choice in signing him last summer.

Sevilla and Spain striker Alvaro Negredo has confessed he would love to move to England, leading to speculation he could be set for a move to Arsenal, Spurs or Newcastle.

The striker recently gave in interview in which he expressed his enthusiasm for playing in the Premier League.

‘The Premier League is a great competition, I really like it and I think my style of football would be well-suited to it,’

‘There comes a time when a cycle comes to an end and I don’t know whether my time will be sooner or later. I haven’t thought about it a lot but I wouldn’t mind playing abroad.’
