With the return of Olivier Giroud tonight against Aston Villa, Arsene Wenger believes that the French striker could prove that Arsenal do not need to splash out in the January transfer window and can prove to be just as effective as an expensive striker.
‘People want always new names, but what is important for us is that Giroud is back,’ said Wenger.
‘He was a bit tired recently, but now he is refreshed and I’m sure he will have a major impact on the second part of the season.

The Gunners need nothing less than 3 points at Villa Park on Monday night if they are to regain their place at the top of the Premier League table.
Saturday and Sunday’s fixtures saw Chelsea take 2nd place with a win against Hull, while Man City’s win over Newcastle with the same scoreline allowed them to claim top spot.
With Wenger’s men sat 1 point off their London rivals and 2 points adrift of Pellegrini’s City with a game in hand, a draw would not be enough to see them back into the spot which has been claimed for so long this season.
The chasing duo would be level on points and goal difference if Monday’s game should end a draw 0-0 draw, meaning Arsenal would stay 3rd thanks to Chelsea’s 40 goals scored against Arsenal’s 39.
However the side can play in the comfortable knowledge that Villa – who ran out shock 3-1 winners in the opening day of the season at the Emirates – have not taken 3 points off Arsenal at Villa Park in their last 14 attempts.

Arsenal have been linked with a string of players since it was confirmed that Theo Walcott would be out for the rest of the season and three more were lined up as possible January additions to Arsène Wenger’s squad today.
A striker and a winger have been the two positions most people have stated we need to reinforce if we are to keep up our title challenge and assault on Europe.
Versatile Juve player joining the ranks
Two sources suggest we are in for Juventus attacker Sebastian Giovinco, who would be perfect cover for Walcott on the wing. The Metro insist Wenger is keen on the Italian who is out-of-favour.
Reports in Turin suggests a loan bid could come in from the Gunners for the 26-year-old who can play various positions.

It appears silly season is firmly upon us as it was only yesterday that we revealed that reports in Spanish and English newspapers suggested Álvaro Morata could move to the Emirates on loan.
However, as is sometimes the case in the January transfer window, the situation has taken a dramatic course of action. In fact today we have heard several different scenarios.
Three different stories…
AS stated that Morata’s agent was coming to England to thrash out a deal with either Arsenal or Tottenham Hotspur, whilst Spanish TV show El Chiringuito de Jugones believe he could move to Benfica.
