Arsenal comfortably beat Stoke 3-1 thanks to goals from Aaron Ramsey, Per Mertesacker and Bacary Sagna, with record transfer Mesut Ozil having a hand in all 3 goals.
Pre-Match
Arsenal could not have gone into the game with much better form.
A win in France midweek meant that Arsenal have won a record 10 away games in a row. The loss to Villa was looking increasingly like a blip.
Starting Line-Up
18 year old Serge Gnabry was the only change to the starting line up from midweek as Theo Walcott missed out through an abdomen injury, rather than illness that was widely reported. Arteta and Vermaelen both made the bench, as did new signing Viviano. Bendtner was also on the bench.
Arsenal team: Szczesny, Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs, Wilshere, Flamini, Ramsey, Ozil, Gnabry, Giroud

Arsenal continued their fine run of form to go temporarily top of the league. A strong, determined, though not always fluent performance from Arsenal secured a 3-1 victory, a common scoreline this season.
Wojciech Szczesny - 6 - Little to do for the most part, but handled everything that came his way. Made two impressive saves from long distance. Not at fault for Stoke’s goal.
Bacary Sagna - 6 - Beaten too easily in the twenty-first minute, giving away a foul that could easily have been a penalty. Mostly solid however and secured Arsenal’s win in the seventy-first minute with a looping header of Asmir Begovic.
Per Mertesacker - 6 - An inconsistent display from the captain. Was caught out for Stoke’s goal and let Stoke in too easily a few minutes later. As with Sagna, he made up for it by restoring Arsenal’s lead from an Ozil corner.

Arsenal's winning run continues, with an important victory in what is likely to be a tough Champions League group. The opening day defeat by Aston Villa is beginning to feel like one of those bad dreams, in which you wake up in a cold sweat, but by the end of the day, you forget the dream ever happened.
Wojciech Szczesny - 7 – He had one hairy moment in a mix-up with Per Mertesacker, but otherwise gave a strong performance. His handling was solid, and he made a number of decent saves. Could do nothing about Marseille's penalty.
Bacary Sagna – 7 – He didn't get as forward as we often see, but Sagna was pretty faultless at the back. He had to deal with one of Marseille's dangermen in Andre Ayew, and largely kept him quiet.

Despite the interstitial of the international fixtures, Arsenal continue their recent good form. A thrilling if profligate first-half was followed up by a nervy and scrappy second, but the Gunners found a way to grind out a hard-fought three points.
Wojciech Szczesny - 7 – A solid display from the Pole. Made decent saves from Jozy Altidore and Connor Wickham, and was largely error-free in goal.
Carl Jenkinson – 7 – He started awkwardly, and appears to need to work on his skills in possession. However, while most of his crosses missed their target, his assist for Aaron Ramsey's first goal was a superb pass.
Bacary Sagna – 6 – A doughty presence, but it should be remembered that Sagna is playing as an auxiliary centre-half, and found dealing with Altidore difficult at times. Largely fortunate not too be punished after the referee inexplicably chalked off a goal for the American.

A win that felt like something of a throwback. A goal against the run of play, and a defensive display that felt redolent of the Arsenal team of George Graham. 1-0 to the Arsenal.
Wojciech Szczesny - 8 – Made a brilliant save in the second-half. But I felt his claiming of crosses, and command of his penalty area was even more impressive. He appeared unflappable as Tottenham desperately pressed for an equaliser.
Carl Jenkinson – 7 – Looked all at sea in the early stages, struggling to deal with Nacer Chadli. However, he recovered well as the game continued, and played his part in the Arsenal rearguard in the second-half.
