An incredibly competitive North London Derby was won by a determined, passionate, and resolute Arsenal team where if Hugo Lloris hadn’t had such an inspired performance, it could have ended with a much more one-sided score line.
A fantastic team performance against a team with some genuine quality creates the feeling that with maybe two or three top quality signings, there could be a very promising season ahead for Arsenal.
Flamini’s back
An impressive second-half performance from Mathieu Flamini assures Arsenal fans that Arsene Wenger certainly does know what he’s doing, despite dithering in the transfer market.
Flamini was a strong presence in the defensive midfielder role, and looks to be an astute free transfer by Wenger. It looked as if Flamini had some respect to regain from the Arsenal fans and played like he was determined to do so.

The Champions League awaits for the 16th season, as Arsenal brushed aside Fenerbahce in the 2nd leg. A routine way to start what will be a huge week for the Gunners.
Wojciech Szczesny - 7 – He flapped at a set-piece in the first-half, but offset that mistake with two fine saves. Still needs to watch his propensity to rush from his goal, but overall gave a solid display.
Carl Jenkinson – 7 – He defended well down his right-hand side, and also provided a couple of fine crosses into the box. Go forward well in the game's latter stages, and was unlucky not to score his first goal for the club.
Bacary Sagna – 7 – While nominally a right-back, Sagna has deputised for Laurent Koscielny with the minimum of fuss. He made a couple of important tackles, covering Per Mertesacker whenever needed.

Arsene Wenger opted to field a strong team tonight, perhaps rather unnecessarily, especially considering the margin of victory and the apparent closeness of Jack Wilshere to suffering an injury, as he was continuously targeted by the inferior Fenerbahce midfield.
It would have been nice to see some of Arsenal’s up and coming players started among more experienced players, perhaps Gedion Zelalem or even Emmanuel Frimpong occupying the centre of Arsenal’s midfield.
This would allow the priceless duo of Ramsey and Wilshere to have a rest before the colossal game against Tottenham on Sunday, while benefiting from playing alongside our only genuinely world-class player, Santi Cazorla.

The Gunners managed to continue the great form they displayed in their Champions League qualifier thrashing of Fenerbahçe, as they cruised to a 3-1 win at Craven Cottage under an absolute downpour for most of the match.
Goals from Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski sealed the deal for Arsenal, though Fulham managed to pull back a consolation goal in the form of a tap in by Darren Bent.
The Good
There were a lot of positives in the first half, specifically another goal from Giroud, a few big saves from Szczesny, Cazorla… just Cazorla overall, great counter attacking play which lasted throughout the match and a big one, competent refereeing.

Arsene Wenger’s side built on the 3-0 win at Fenerbahce in midweek to convincingly see off Fulham at Craven Cottage.
After last week’s disappointing defeat at the Emirates against Aston Villa, The Gunners produced a fine display even with depleted defensive options meaning Bacary Sagna would fill in at centre-back.
A double from Lucas Podolski after Olivier Giroud’s 14th minute opener had the game sealed before Darren Bent knocked in a close range consolation late on in the game on a rain soaked pitch.
