What do they say about champions playing badly but winning? This match showed how true that is. Both teams played well but will look back ruefully on points lost. At this time of the season, points trump performances.
But while it’s easy to view this as a setback, the truth is it will only be at the end of the season that we know how bad (or good) this result was. This is a very good Everton side who should have beaten Spurs, came to the Emirates with Champions League aspirations of their own, and will push Chelsea extremely close on the last day of the season.

A fiery start from both teams indicated this was always going to be a close affair. In the end a draw was a fair result after an extremely competitive match saw both teams end with a clean sheet.
It’s no surprise that Arsenal and Everton find themselves only separated by four points at this late stage of the season after such an even match.
Wojciech Szczesny – 6 – Had a very quiet game on his return to the first team making just two saves.

A very tense game at the Emirates where a late flurry of goals and a helping hand from a linesman sees Arsenal rise to third in the table in the race for Champions League qualification.
Arsene Wenger deserves credit for his substitutions today as they came on to make the difference. The score line may be flattering but the three points is all that matters at this stage of the season.
Lukasz Fabianski – 7 – Another solid performance in goal with an excellent save just after Arsenal’s second goal to keep the score at 2-1. Could do nothing for the Norwich goal.

A tense game at the Hawthorns ended with Arsenal keeping their one goal lead to keep Champions League hopes alive. Sounds familiar? The 3 points are exactly what Arsenal needed in order to keep the pressure on Spurs and Chelsea, entering the top 4 for the first time this season.
Lukasz Fabianski - 7 - Solid performance, got something on the penalty, but the shot was so poor he wouldn’t have been expecting to use his legs. One or two slightly heart-in-mouth moments, but nothing major. No amazing saves, but did exactly what was needed.
Nacho Monreal - 7 - Better than Santos. This was another game in which Monreal showed why Wenger chose to sign him. Going forwards he still has a bit of work to do, with none of his crosses or long balls going to an Arsenal shirt. However, with the most interceptions of any player (4), along with the second most effective clearances

What was I worrying about yesterday? Fear of complacency was quickly replaced by a fear for Nigel Adkins life after the first twenty minutes.
It was a very accomplished performance by the Gunners, with a quality of football that has not been seen for a while at the Emirates. What’s more, I was (pleasantly) surprised by a number of players, and tactical decisions.
All hail King Forehead
I seem to recall us signing a tricky forward from Lille a couple of summers ago. Name of Gervinho, he was supposed to be a handful up front.
