It was reported a couple of days ago that Arsenals pursuit of strikers Gonzalo Higuain and Stevan Jovetic had taken a few twists and turns.

With Juventus looking in the front seat for both players, and every other striker who has ever scored a goal it would seem ( after missing out on last Summer’s transfer targets and ending up with Bendtner can you blame them), Arsenal are under pressure to make a move quickly to stop missing out on the players they desire and leaving it up to another season of deadline day madness.

The story of Polish striker Robert Lewandowski has been rather left alone of late, as it was widely expected that he would move to Bayern Munich.

Both he and Bayern were confident he would secure a move to his “dream club” as recently as last week.

However, a twist in the tale has emerged, as Dortmund have refused to sell him to Munich this summer. Having already lost Mario Gotze to their rivals, the German side to do not want to lose a second star.

I’ll start with the good (ish) news. Real Madrid have made Gonzalo Higuain available for sale, as he confirmed on the last day of the Spanish season.

Arsenal have been heavily linked, with Colombian radio speaking to his family under the impression he was Arsenal-bound.

Reports in Spain have suggested Juventus met with Real representatives to negotiate the transfer today, with some suggesting a bid had been made, but the two sides were playing a friendly, and their meeting was likely more to do with that.

Like that spot on the floor that just won’t go away, Nicklas Bendtner has been sponging off Arsenal’s wage bill for two years now, languishing on loan across Europe.

However, he’s now promised he’ll leave Arsenal in two weeks. In talks with “five or six” clubs in Europe, he expects to have a permanent deal wrapped up soon.

Arsenal’s pursuit of Stevan Jovetic has been rather curtailed recently by the player’s preference to join Juventus instead of Arsenal.

However, there have been well-publicised disagreements over the fee between the two Italian clubs, and it now appears that Juventus are signing Carlos Tevez as a replacement option.
