In response to a recent interview in which Lukas Podolski suggested he would rather play centrally, as part of a front two instead of his current left wing (after a fashion) position his national team coach Joachim Loew had this to say:

'He can play this role, but in my opinion he is better behind a central point or on the left side to bear right. At the front is not his ideal position.'

Podolski's original quotes were these:

'I’d rather play centrally up front. On the left I have to do a lot of defensive work, constantly run up and down. I am not a classical winger.

It [the move to Arsenal] was a change, a different country, a new club. I found a good deal indeed. But I demand more and I want to play even better.'

The Daily Mail have been reporting lately that Arsenal are interested in signing 30-goal-a season striker Edinson Cavani from Napoli for £30m.

They claimed Arsenal had a scout watching him in their recent Europa League win, a game where Cavani scored all four goals.

The Uruguayan is certainly a world class striker.

And isn't coming to Arsenal.

A lifelong Arsenal fan living the dream, it's no surprise that Carl Jenkinson has signed a new five year deal before joining the England squad.

After joining from Charlton Athletic for 1m in 2011 he's come on leaps and bounds, being one of Arsenal's most consistent performers this season.

Tough beginnings

Jenkinson made his debut in THAT game at Old Trafford, being destroyed by Ashley Young and being sent off later on.

If certain sources are to be believed, it seems that Arsenal are very close or have even completed a deal for Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha. The 20-year old English/Ivorian has set the Championship alight this season and attracted interest from the likes of Manchester United.

He's a Gooner

Despite this, Zaha is a childhood Arsenal fan and his twitter account reveals a number of tweets about how Arsenal are doing. He is also seemingly friends with fellow England U-21 international Benik Afobe, who is of course an Arsenal player on loan to Bolton.

As some of you may know, Arsenal staged a 'Twitter takeover' yesterday, in which a selection of the club's players answered questions posed on Twitter.

Naturally it was a rather tame affair, with Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud receiving questions like 'what's your favourite sport besides football?', "Who has a harder shot, you or Cazorla?", and somewhat worryingly: "Are all French men so beautiful?" That particular questioner clearly hasn't met Samir Nasri.

However, it's transpired that there was another, secret session, in which a rather different line of questioning was taken....
