Arsenal raided Real Madrid last summer and could be set to do the same again during this transfer window as according to reports they have made a formal offer for Argentine Ángel di María.

The 26-year-old has been in dazzling form all season for Los Blancos but seems likely to disappoint them and seek a new challenge.

A source close to the player spoke with UOL Sport recent and revealed that the Argentina international will leave this season.

Argentine likely to depart Madrid

Daily Express quoted the source close di María, he said: “It is true that he is leaving because he wants to go. It is very likely that he will leave before the end of the World Cup in Brazil.”

Giroud has confirmed that he is in talks with Arsenal about extended his deal at the club. Giroud told this to French media Midi Libre which has now been translated by ESPN.

“I have two years left on my contract, but we’re in talks to extend it. For the moment, I’m good here. There are some good things to be done.”

Arsenal are already preparing targets for next seasons Premier League and Arsène Wenger is looking to beat rivals Tottenham Hotspur to the signing of one of the success stories of the 2013/14 campaign.

Cardiff City stopper David Marshall was a revelation last season and excelled despite the Welsh club suffering relegation in their first season in the Premier League.

The 29-year-old has been linked with both Arsenal and Spurs and the Daily Telegraph report that the Gunners could pinch the goalkeeper from under the noises of their rivals.

Arsenal have recently been linked to Real Madrid and German international defensive midfielder Sami Khedira. The Mirror reports that he could be available for as little as £15 million due to only having one year left on his contract.

In terms of quality and positioning, the German is exactly what we need-- an aggressive hard-hitting midfielder to add some bite back into the centre of the park. His quality is evident, he was virtually an ever-present in the Madrid side last season, but this season has been out with injury.

However, he was valued high enough by Ancelotti to start in the Champions League final and has also made the Germany Rio World Cup squad. At the price he represents a bargain, the question being whether Ancelotti would let him leave.

According to the Metro today Arsenal have lodged a formal bid for French international Antoine Griezmann. The Real Sociedad winger/forward was in good form last year impressing in La Liga with one Carlos Vela. In 49 appearances last year Griezmann contributed 20 goals.

Wenger is known to be a long term admirer and is definitely looking to strengthen Arsenal’s left side of attack. "We are following him [Griezmann] in great detail," Wenger said. "He attracts other clubs as well but we follow him, he is a known commodity."
