Arsenal were rumoured to have opened talks with the representatives of Alexandre Lacazette, and reports emanating from the Express and Daily Star now claim that Liverpool have now joined the race for the signature of the French international.

With Christian Benteke looking all but set to join Crystal Palace, Jurgen Klopp is on the lookout for his replacement despite only recently bringing down winger Sadio Mane to Anfield. Klopp has identified Lacazette as a striker target; he is also known to be his long-term admirer.

Arsenal have handed 20-year-old goalkeeper Guy Smit a two-week trail at the Arsenal Training Centre, Metro reports. The English tabloid reveals that he has had numerous offers from Championship outfits like Brighton and Hove Albion; however, he has pledged to seize the opportunity the Gunners have presented.

“This opportunity I have to seize,” he told Dutch regional newspaper De Gelderlander. The chances of the former NEC Nijmegen shot-stopper earning a contract with the Premier League runners-up is slim, especially since he has not been able to earn even a single start for a club that finished tenth in Eredivisie.

Arsenal are ready to activate a £34 million clause in Alexandre Lacazette’s contract in order to persuade the Olympique Lyonnais forward to move to Emirates Stadium this summer, according to Jason Burt of the Telegraph. The report states that Arsene Wenger, who has been covering France’s European Championship games for beIN Sports, has already opened talks with Lacazette’s representatives.

The Gunners manager promised three signings even before the transfer window had opened. He has followed up his claims, signing holding midfielder Granit Xhaka and 21-year-old prospect Takuma Asano. He tried luring 2015/16 Premier League winner Jamie Vardy to Arsenal by activating his release clause, but the Leicester City forward turned down the offer.

Jose Mourinho is lining up a sensational £50 million bid for Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey, reports say.

Manchester United have been trying to persuade Borussia Dortmund to sell their prized asset Henrikh Mkhitaryan for quite some time now. However, the German club are proving a tough nut to crack, especially after seeing Ilkay Gundogan join Manchester City on June 1. Impatient Mourinho has now set his eyes on Ramsey, who will command a transfer fee of at least £50 million, according to the Sun.

Arsene Wenger has dealt a major blow to fans’ dreams of watching Jamie Vardy play for Arsenal as he confirmed that Vardy would likely turn down a move to Emirates Stadium. The Arsenal manager made the shocking revelation whilst speaking to Chinese news outlet Tencent.

Arsenal met his release clause before the start of UEFA European Championship. Even Claudio Ranieri admitted that the Premier League winners would be helpless to see Vardy jump ships if he chose to.

However, the player jetted off to France without making a decision regarding his future, in an attempt to avert any distraction going into Euro ’16.
