Arsenal have completed the transfers of Jon Toral and Wellington Silva, with the former already made official and the latter expected to be made official in the coming days. Toral joins Primeira Division club Granada on a season-long loan whilst Wellington bids adieu to the London club with a permanent move to his former club, Fluminense.
With Birmingham City, Toral enjoyed a successful loan spell, even claiming Players’ Player and Supporters’ Player of the Year last season. After two seasons in the Championship, observers expected manager Arsene Wenger to hand him a run with Arsenal’s first team this season, especially in light of the release of Tomas Rosicky, Mikel Arteta, and Mathieu Flamini. However, the manager seems content with heading into the 2016/17 campaign with just a single midfield addition in Granit Xhaka.

Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez seems hopeful of retaining the services of wantaway midfielder Moussa Sissoko despite being wary of the fact that he will be a subject of more successful clubs’ interest, according to George Bellshaw of Metro.
Dropping to the Championship, Newcastle are in a position where they will be helpless to lose their prized assets, but their Spanish manager has voiced his admiration for the Frenchman in a desperate attempt to keep him at St James’ Park.

Arsenal have shown interest in signing Gonzalo Higuain from Napoli again this summer. However, manager Arsene Wenger has not made his mind to part ways with £78.8m, a sum that would trigger the release clause in his contract, James Olley of the Standard reports.
After failing in their attempts to sign Alvaro Morata and Alexandre Lacazette because of financial issues, the Gunners have made contact with the Italian club over a potential move. Napoli, who have been trying to flog the Argentine since signing him from Real Madrid for a record fee, have told them the striker could complete a transfer to Emirates Stadium in the event of his release clause being met.

Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi’s agent-cum-wife Wanda Nara has claimed Arsenal have made contact over a potential summer move, shortly after the club’s sporting director Piero Ausilio rubbished her earlier claims of the club being ready to offload him owing to financial reasons.
The Nerazzurri more than tripled his wages only in April 2015, and the striker is reportedly at £70,000-a-week. However, Icardi’s wife has been at a war of words with the sporting director in recent times, with the Icardis trying to engineer yet another hike.

Many reports suggest that Thomas Vermaelen is closing in on a summer move to West Ham United, but the Telegraph now reports that the former Arsenal captain is reluctant to sign a contract with the Olympic Stadium club as the player was informed that an approach from the Gunners manager Arsene Wenger is imminent.
Arsenal are definitely in the transfer market for a striker; however, manager Arsene Wenger is seemingly keen to bring down a defender, simultaneously. Youngsters such as Kostas Manolas and Jeison Murillo have been linked; however, Wenger’s penchant for signing former players who left on good terms may see the Emirates Stadium club land the wantaway Barcelona centre-back in the upcoming days.
