Arsenal emerged victorious at the end of a nail biting match to get through to the FA cup final. In a game where Arsenal were hot favourites it seemed a struggle in a lacklustre match however, Arsenal are in the final and can compete for a trophy once again.

Nerves were expected before the game but when Mertesacker gave away the penalty which Gomez went onto score the nerves did kick in more than ever.

I was sat in my living room with the thought that Wenger’s reign may be over and another bad memory to live with, with this being Arsenals best chance of a trophy.

It came it the most nail-biting fashion, but Arsenal will play in the FA Cup Final, after a tense 4-2 penalty shoot-out win over Wigan.

Lukasz Fabianski - 8 – He did little wrong over the 120 minutes, and could do nothing with the Jordi Gomez penalty in normal time. He came up big for the Gunners in the shoot-out, saving two penalties.

Bacary Sagna – 7 – He was one of the few players to do himself justice. He was his reliable presence in defence, and put in a series of dangerous crosses from the right-hand side. He was also unlucky with a header that hit the post.

Per Mertesacker – 7 – It looked as if his concession of the penalty would be the decisive moment in the match. However, for most of the contest, he was a strong presence at the back, and it was “the BFG” who saved the game, scoring the equaliser with 8 minutes to go.

A 3-0 demolition away to Everton, during a title chase? Granted, it's the fourth place title, but seriously, what the hell was that? What do they think this is, a party? They've played with their "hands in the air" for 90 minutes yet never realise the roof is on fire.

Arsenal players do more pointing (at each other and opponents) than the average weatherman. A little warm breath on the backs of their necks from an opposing defender and they're on their backs waiting for their tummies to be tickled followed by all the gesturing and pointing when ignored by the referee. What do they think this is? No one wants to 'man up', except Flamini.

Five years after been described as boys by Manchester United's Patrice Evra, Arsenal’s performance at Everton today was not even sufficiently potent to consider them teenagers.

Another embarrassing performance from a hapless Wenger side saw Arsenal humiliated at the hands of Everton, who in all honesty didn’t need to play well to beat us

Szczesny – 5 – Given the scoreline, Szczesny’s was one of only very few performances worth giving any sort of credit to.  Our keeper was unlucky for all three goals and made some great saves that will be overlooked due to the outcome of the match.

Monreal – 4 – A couple of good crosses at a few points in the match were Nacho’s highlights but all in all he made up one quarter of a terrible defensive performance

After the past two results, many Gooners feared the worst against a Manchester City side in a good position to win the title. But after a poor start, Arsenal recovered well to get a 1-1 draw.

Wojciech Szczesny - 6 – There was nothing drastically wrong with the Pole. But his kicking was mediocre, and he made a couple of uncharacteristic handling errors. One worries that he's beginning to suffer from some mental fatigue.

Bacary Sagna – 8 – A solid first-half, but Sagna was arguably the game's best player in the second 45 minutes. Was the main outlet for much of Arsenal's attacking play, both on the ground, and in the air. Put in a series of superb crosses from the right-hand side.
