Arsenal were listless in the first half, and alacritous in the second, leaving them with the grand total of 1 Premier League point in the month of January so far.

WOJCIECH SZCZESNY - 5 - As in recent weeks, he wasn't helped by his defence. But he should have done better with the first goal, could have been sent-off in the build-up to the second, and almost made a huge contribution to a third after doing his best Manuel Almunia impression when Demba Ba was played through on goal.

BACARY SAGNA - 4 - The first half was probably his worst in an Arsenal shirt. Not only was he hapless in defence, but his distribution was atrocious. He defended better in the second half, but was still dreadful as an attacking force.

As I looked around the ground I saw a sea of red. But, unfortunately, the red was coming from the many empty seats littered around the stadium. I was certainly surprised; it was one of the lowest attendances I have ever seen at the game.

However, the core fans that were there were buzzing tonight. With every chance Arsenal squandered, the fans were grew more and more noisy until Wilshere’s stunning strike sent the fans who had stayed right till the end into a frenzy.

The game was a real spectacle, in the 2nd half though. Although the score-line does not reflect the true nature of the game, I was on the edge of my seat for the most of the 2nd half as it began to look like one of those days, before Wilshere sent us flying into the 4th round.

Nice win for the Gunners tonight.  Like the Arsenal of old we made tonnes of chances but didn’t convert as many as we might have liked.  Still, a good win, making Swansea look rather average.

Wojciech Szczesny- 7- Only really had one chance he could do anything about.  Second half shot was parried to safety, no complaints.

Bacary Sagna- 7- A bit of a quiet first half but picked up a lot in the second.  A couple of great lofted crosses added to the barrage of the Swansea goal.

The Emirates Stadium was an enraged and irate place on Sunday evening. Referee Mike Dean will likely take the majority of the headlines after dishing out two red cards, with Manchester City winning their first league game away at Arsenal since 1975.

The Koscielny Red

First, the elephant in the room. While many Arsenal fans were livid by Koscielny being sent-off, one hopes that after looking at it, they'll realise Dean had little option other than to brandish the red card. While there's a counter argument that we see similar offences in the Premier League every week, that's not a justification to continue to let them pass. Personally I hope that this sets a new standard in refereeing where players will stop holding & shirt-grabbing to stop an attacker.

In a game full of controversy, the Premier League champions came out on top thanks to goals from James Milner and Edin Dzeko.

Wojciech Szczesny – 7 – did well to save the penalty but his distribution was poor. Also maybe could have done better with their second goal, only managing to parry out to Dzeko.

Bacary Sagna – 6 – certainly an improvement from recent performances. He made some good tackles, however he really needs to improve on his crossing.

Laurent Koscielny – 1 – I feel harsh giving him my lowest ever rating but due to the fact his only contribution to the game was conceding a penalty and getting sent off, I think it is justified.
