A livid Arsenal supporter who’s post-match interview went viral on Youtube has received a reply from one of the men he was criticising.

Mirror reporter John Cross came under fire in the fan – named by Cross as Chris Hudson – during his 2 minute rant, describing him as a “media luvvy”.

Hudson was interviewed by ArsenalFanTV after the 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa, a game which tensions seemed to boil over as a depleted squad surrendered a 1-0 lead to lose 3-1 against a defiant, young Villa team.

Boos where heard and chants of “spend spend spend” rang out throughout the game, surrounding Arsenal’s lack of movement in the summer transfer window which has seen an incredible 21 players leave the Emirates, including a number of youngsters, to be replaced solely by French U20 striker Yaya Sanogo on a free.

Arsenal’s disastrous start to the season against Aston Villa seemed almost inevitable. The team, already down to the bare bones, due to a combination of a summer clear out, a lack of arrivals and injuries, was, despite a decent start, outplayed by Paul Lambert’s young side.

The performance highlighted many areas that even the most optimistic of fans would agree need improvement. Most significantly perhaps was the shocking goalkeeping and defending seen throughout, especially with Carl Jenkinson ten yards inside the Aston Villa half as our last man for the last goal.

Aside from the defensive shortcomings, the game confirmed that a central midfielder should be the number one priority this summer. Aaron Ramsey joined Mikel Arteta on the sidelines, leaving Jack Wilshere and Emmanuel Frimpong as the only possibilities in defensive midfield.

Swansea City have slapped a £25million price tag on Arsenal target Michu.

Arsene Wenger is now desperate to make a signing after the Gunners’ opening day defeat at home to Aston Villa, which was marred by boos and jeers directed at the Frenchman.

Signs reading “spend spend spend” were held up around the ground as not a penny has left the Emirates in transfer fees throughout the summer.

The Premier League curtain raiser is upon us and Arsenal take on a rejuvenated Aston Villa side after securing Premier League survival last season.

They have strengthened in key areas with the powerful Jores Okore coming in to likely partner Ron Vlaar at the heart of the defence and the tricky Nicklas Helenius will play in a role alongside or just behind Christian Benteke.

Key Areas

Villa’s lack of pace and defensive frailties

The main area Arsenal will look to exploit is the weakness of Aston Villa’s defence. Only Reading and Wigan conceded more goals than the Villains last season, with positional errors from inexperienced defenders to blame.

After a summer which was supposed to have seen significant money spent on improvements to the squad, Arsenal start their league campaign against Aston Villa at the Emirates this Saturday with no new senior signings in the squad.

In a pre-season which has seen a successful tour of Asia, followed by a dismal performance in the Emirates Cup, Arsenal fans will be hoping that the Gunners can bring in the form they showed against Man City in Finland in their last pre-season friendly.

Arsenal team news

While many fans were excited at the prospect of Arsenal fielding new players for this weekend’s match, they have to deal with the fact that there are no new signings, and Arsenal have a host of players sidelined by injury.
