Leading up to today’s match there was much optimism that we may get to Wembley to compete in a semi-final and at the final whistle chants were ringing around the Emirates of  “Que Sara Sara whatever will be will be we’re going to Wembley”.

Arsenal won the match 4-1 but it wasn’t that easy a victory.

The Match

Arsenal took the lead in the 7th minute when Cazorla played Ӧzil in to slot home which was much needed just to give him some confidence back. However, in the 32nd minute Everton equalised through Lukaku. The match was evenly poised but a quick burst by Oxlade-Chamberlain made Barry commit a foul and win Arsenal a penalty.

After stuttering in recent weeks, Arsenal’s best and most realistic hope for silverware this season would appear to be in the FA Cup. With a 2-0 deficit to overturn in Munich, and now trailing Chelsea by 4 points, the Gunners could really do with progressing past Everton and making it into the semi-final of the cup.

Everton will also know that they too have a realistic chance of winning the cup, with manager Roberto Martinez looking to repeat the achievement he had with his Wigan side last year and triumph in the competition.

Team News

Arsenal will be without Jack Wilshere for this weekend’s match after the midfielder suffered a hairline fracture in his foot during England’s friendly with Denmark on Wednesday night. The injury looks to have ruled the midfielder out for at least 6-8 weeks.

Every team needs a presence, a talker and a commander, for Arsenal this is no different. Welcome Mathieu Flamini, often his works goes unnoticed but he’s been a revelation since returning to Arsenal and this week the spotlight has been shining on him.

Flamini spoke to Arsenal.com about this weekend’s quarter final against Everton and had the following to say;

“When you are a player, you wake up every day, train hard, and the objective is to win titles," he told the official matchday programme. "If not, there's no point going on the field if you don't want to win.”

Jack Wilshere has been ruled out for six weeks with a foot injury picked up in last night’s England game with Denmark. This was confirmed by a joint statement which was released by both Arsenal and the FA.

The statement read:

Following initial scans carried out by the FA on Wednesday night, further investigation by Arsenal’s medical team has discovered a crack to a small bone in Jack’s left foot - the navicular, an area of his foot which has not been previously injured.

The Internationals are done and dusted for the week but the real concern is which players are coming back injured or not.

Reports indicate that there are really only two injury concerns as Laurent Koscielny and Jack Wilshere may both be doubts for the game against Everton.

Koscielny

Laurent Koscielny has become a doubt for the game against Everton as the player has a hamstring issue. The player was reported to have felt pain in his hamstring on the Tuesday night and took assessments to further see damage. The result was that there were no real issues with the player.
